Stepping into Wanchai, a British tourist, who wished to remain anonymous, couldn't believe his eyes. It was his first time witnessing a genuine red light district, with countless dimly lit bars and scantily clad women trying to attract customers.
Paradise for “flower girls” and drugs
In Wanchai, bars are open continuously throughout the day and night. So, if one place kicks you out at 9 p.m., simply cross the street and step into another bar. Not all bars here are brothels with provocatively dressed women luring customers from the outside. However, even in the classiest establishments, there are always numerous beautiful and sexy women asking you to buy them drinks at exorbitant prices. Afterward, they will straightforwardly invite you to go with them without the need for you to ask, and a simple nod is all it takes for both to head to a nearby hotel.
During his early days here, this tourist was often tempted to try cocaine. Despite refusing, the dealers insisted that drugs were readily available, anytime he desired.
Among the men he met, aged 20 to 50, a staggering 30 individuals regularly used cocaine. Most of them worked in the banking sector and were Westerners. The drug dealers in Wanchai are highly active. You can text or call them anytime, and within 10-60 minutes, your order is ready for satisfaction. If your usual supplier is busy or unresponsive, there are countless replacements available at a moment's notice.
“Casual affairs, no one bats an eye”
In Wanchai, legal concerns are the least of your worries. You can snort cocaine openly in the restroom without fear or secrecy because no one cares. The women here are also very open-minded and liberal when it comes to sexual encounters. Some patrons are here solely for alcohol, some for drugs, and others for endless pursuit of women. However, meeting these individuals isn't easy as they are always occupied with enjoying the company of the alluring women at some hotel.
Hong Kong can corrupt you at any time. Just like Wanchai with its myriad of bars where patrons can indulge in drugs at any hour, the flower girls with their enticing propositions are everywhere. Here, partying all night long is just another regular occurrence.
Once you set foot in Wanchai, you'll be drawn to the carefree and relaxed lifestyle of its people. When you visit another city, you'll wonder why there aren't bars open all night long, why the parties never seem to end. That's the feeling that not every place can give you.
