At the Xbox Games Showcase event, Obsidian developers unveiled Peril on Gorgon, the first part of two expansions for The Outer Worlds RPG. With less than 10 days left until release, game director Carrie Patel showcased gameplay and exciting new content through a 12-minute game trailer.

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon takes place on the remote asteroid Gorgon, where one of the most ambitious scientific projects in Halcyon unfolds: the development and synthesis of Adrena-Time - a drug designed to enhance productivity of workers across Halcyon's colonies. After a costly development phase and several failed experiments, Spacer's Choice corporation shut down the project, leaving behind abandoned facilities now inhabited by bandits and a group of SubLight contractors.
Five years after the conclusion of the Adrena-Time project, the reclusive wealthy individual Minnie Ambrose contacts you, hoping to learn more about Dr. Olivia Ambrose, her mother and former head of the project. Your journey will take you through the perilous mountain passes of Gorgon and into its abandoned corporate facilities as you follow the trail of Dr. Ambrose's colleagues and uncover a mystery that has shaped life in Halcyon. Experience new weapons and gear in Peril on Gorgon, including 3 advanced scientific weapons. One favorite weapon among developers is the P.E.T, short for Pest Extermina Tool, capable of drawing enemies closer for close-quarters combat. Additionally, discover new armor sets, creature variants, and more perks and drawbacks.
If you've completed The Outer Worlds' crucial path through Monarch, you're ready to dive into Peril on Gorgon. If you've fully conquered the game, you can start a new playthrough (perhaps trying out a new character build) or use your final journey to return and experience this enticing DLC. Developers have raised the level cap to 33 in case you want to continue with your current character.
The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon launches on 9/9 for $14.99. The second expansion, Murder on Eridanos, will debut next year at the same price. However, you can spend $24.99 to purchase both with The Outer Worlds Expansion Pass. For those who played The Outer Worlds on Xbox Game Pass, you can buy each pack individually or the Expansion Pass at an additional 10% discount.
