Preparing baby food is not difficult, but there are some basic principles that moms need to remember for their child's health, intelligence, and overall development. That includes avoiding certain food combinations that should never be cooked together when preparing meals for your baby:
1. Spinach and shrimp
Beans, sweet potatoes, and kale are foods rich in Phytic acid. This acid binds with calcium in the body to form salts. As a result, calcium is not absorbed into the baby's body, and for health reasons, the child's body may even 'excrete' these new salt compounds as waste. Therefore, if you've bought shrimp, crab, or other seafood for your child, it's best to avoid including beans, tofu, sweet potatoes, and kale in their meal. Otherwise, it will be a waste.

2. Pork and soybeans
According to nutrition experts, pork and soybeans should not be combined when preparing a dish. Soybeans are a nutrient-rich food, containing 60-80% phosphorus. When combined with pork in the same dish, the phosphorus content in soybeans may reduce the nutritional value of pork, especially when the meat is lean. For babies who only eat lean meat during weaning, if mothers cook pork with soybeans for them, it would be a waste of nutrients.

3. Orange and milk puree
Many moms have the habit of preparing orange puree mixed with milk for their children in the evening. In reality, this is a misconception. Both orange and lemon juice are high in AHA acid, which, when combined with the protein in milk, can cause the protein to denature, thereby reducing the nutritional value of the protein. Moreover, such a combination can affect digestion and milk absorption in the baby's body.
Often, orange milk or sour orange milk is commonly used by Western mothers as a remedy for constipation in children. After drinking this concoction, children usually have the urge to expel the waste immediately.
4. Liver stir-fried with watercress or carrot liver porridge
The liver is rich in iron and is thought to be good for children. However, if cooked with watercress or carrots, the baby will not absorb any iron. Why? Cellulose conflicts with iron. Animal livers contain a lot of iron, so if eaten with vegetables like watercress and carrots that are high in cellulose, the cellulose will affect the absorption of iron in the baby's diet.

5. Soup, carrot soup, and turnips
Cooking carrots with turnips often results in a delicious and sweet soup that babies love. However, this combination is not beneficial for the child's nutrition. Carrots contain enzymes that can destroy vitamin C. Therefore, the amount of vitamin C in turnips will be completely destroyed when eaten with carrots.

6. Carbonated drinks and rice
For older children, preschoolers, discovering carbonated drinks is often a fascination. Many children demand that there must be a glass of soda next to their rice meal for them to eat. They eat and drink soda simultaneously. Indulging children in this way is a mistake. Drinking carbonated drinks while eating rice will dilute gastric juices, hindering the child's food digestion. Over time, it can lead to gastric inflammation.
