Guardians of Phu Yen's Ancient Cultural Heritage

Phu Yen boasts a rich and ancient history, a melting pot of various ethnic cultures. It has witnessed and experienced numerous glorious historical events, from archaeological sites dating back to prehistoric times to the Cham Pa and Dai Viet cultures. All of these will be vividly portrayed at the Phu Yen Museum.

The Phu Yen Museum is situated on Tran Phu Street in Tuy Hoa city, covering a considerable area and featuring a modern three-story design. The exterior area of the Phu Yen Museum also stands out with 2 tanks, 2 airplanes, and a large artillery gun donated by the Ministry of National Defense.

The main building of the Phu Yen Museum is designed with its facade resembling the hat of King Hung, adorned with Dong Son drum motifs and Lac birds throughout the structure. The outdoor exhibition area spans nearly 4,000 square meters. It is an impressive architectural feat with convenient access for locals and tourists alike.

The first floor area exhibits historical artifacts ranging from ancient times to the Phu Yen era during the resistance war and present-day Phu Yen. The second floor showcases prehistoric artifacts made of stone, baked clay, and even a 2,000-year-old Dong Son bronze drum. The third floor is used for museum-wide activities.

As of today, the Phu Yen Museum houses 3,350 artifacts. Notable exhibits include Cham Pa culture items such as stone instruments, stone horns, lotus-shaped stone pillars, Hamsa swan deities, lingas, and yonis of Cham Pa people's spiritual beliefs; Dai Viet culture featuring stone tools from the Hoa Binh culture; renowned Quang Duc ceramics from the late 18th to early 19th centuries, along with ancient coins and bronze drums.
Artifacts displayed on the second floor relating to the revolutionary resistance period include playing cards, clubs, tax collection urging tools, torture devices used by the enemy to torment innocent civilians, hurricane lamps, bicycles, hammocks, clothing, and military equipment...

Or modern-day production tools like porcelain jars, rice containers, sugar presses, rice grinding mortars. Also, a variety of ethnic minority community tools such as baskets, wine filters, water containers, triple drums, five-tone gongs, and double drums, which broadly depict the life, culture, and spirit of the people and the Phu Yen region.

It's the long-standing historical and cultural factors that always appeal to long-distance travelers. Since its inception, the Phu Yen Museum has attracted a significant number of tourists, not only domestically but also internationally.
