Phu Yen not only embraces the charm of a city nestled between two mountains but also captivates visitors with its pristine lakes, vast beaches, and the fascinating Da Dia Reef. With Tuy Hoa city as the focal point, you can plan your itinerary to explore the exquisite destinations in this beloved Central Vietnam region.
1. Phun Gorge
Here, travelers can marvel at the serene mountainous scenery and delve into cultural relics like the ancient Huong Tich Pagoda – one of the oldest pagodas in Phu Yen. Moreover, this picturesque landscape offers various enticing activities such as eco-forest exploration, mountain climbing, river bathing, and camping.

Route: From Phu Lam District, Tuy Hoa city head west along Highway 645, then turn south towards Hoa My Tay commune in Tay Hoa district. Continue towards the Black Rock mountainous area, then ascend towards the source of the Banh Lai River to encounter a majestic 15-meter waterfall cascading between the towering cliffs. This is the breathtaking Phun Gorge.
2. Vung Ro

Nestled between Deo Ca Pass, Da Bia Mountain, and Hon Ba, Vung Ro used to be a crucial port along the Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail. With its 12 small bays, each boasting its own charm, Vung Ro welcomes visitors with azure blue waters, stretches of sandy beaches perfect for leisurely strolls, swimming, or indulging in seafood delights. Travelers can also rent fishing boats from local fishermen to explore the vastness of the ocean or conquer the mist-shrouded summit of Da Bia Mountain nearby.
Directions: From Tuy Hoa City, take National Highway 1A for about 30 km until you reach Deo Ca Pass, then continue for 12 km before turning left onto the road leading to Vung Ro Port (total distance approximately 45 km). Alternatively, you can follow the coastal road Phuoc Tan – Bai Nga. If you have ample time to enjoy the scenery, renting a motorbike is highly recommended.
3. Hon Nua

Standing 105m tall, Hon Nua resembles a split gateway to the south entrance of Vung Ro Bay, earning it the moniker 'Pillar of Autonomy' in ancient records. Upon reaching Hon Nua, you'll be captivated by the long crescent-shaped beach stretching approximately 500m, featuring fine white sand and pristine waters. Moreover, snorkeling enthusiasts will marvel at the mesmerizing beauty of coral reefs beneath the coastal waters.
Directions: The most convenient way to reach Hon Nua is from Vung Ro Port Bridge. A 30-minute boat ride will take you to the island.
4. Dai Lanh Lighthouse – Witness the First Sunrise of the Fatherland

The majestic beauty of Dai Lanh (or Mui Dien) captivates visitors with its pristine Môn Beach, where sand dunes stretch endlessly. The highlight is following the trails up to the lighthouse, gazing upon the vast azure sea, the slow drift of fishing boats, peculiar rock formations, or becoming one of the earliest risers at the 'Easternmost Lighthouse' of the Motherland. This is one of the 8 lighthouses with a history of over 100 years among the total of 79 active lighthouses in our country.
Directions: Dai Lanh Lighthouse is approximately 24km from Tuy Hoa City via National Highway 1A to the foothills of Ca Pass, then take the road down to Vung Ro, follow the asphalt road eastward for about 5 km to reach Mon Beach – Mui Dien. The entrance fee to Dai Lanh cape is currently around 10,000 VND/person.
5. Hon Chua Island

Hon Chua Island, located offshore in the Long Thuy sea area, belongs to An Phu Commune, Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province, about 6-7 kilometers from the coast. When viewed from the mainland, Hon Chua resembles a green carpet laid out on the sea. Surrounding the island beneath the sea's surface are colorful coral reefs, ideal habitats for crabs and lobsters.
Directions: From Da Rang Estuary (Ward 6, Tuy Hoa City), tourists can take a boat to Hon Chua Island. Another option is heading northward along National Highway 1A, about 10 km from the center of Tuy Hoa City-Phu Yen to reach Long Thuy Beach, from where you can take a boat to the island.
6. Van Hoa Plateau

This place is often regarded as the Dalat of Phu Yen, situated at an altitude of 400m, encompassing the communes of Son Xuan, Son Long, and Son Dinh. It is renowned for its fragrant specialties, jackfruit, and fish sauce made from these two fruits. The products, rich in the essence of Phu Yen, are sold everywhere in the Van Hoa plateau, especially at Don market.
Directions: From Tuy Hoa city, take National Highway 1A heading north for 14 km to Hoa Da hamlet, then turn left onto DT 643 road towards the west for about 25 km to reach the Van Hoa plateau.
7. Tiger Cave

Tiger Cave consists of hundreds of large and small rocks piled on top of each other, stretching close to the sea. Many tourists are amazed by the allure of the deep blue sea, the smooth round rocks lying closely together, extending to the foot of the waves. If desired, visitors can also try their hand at fishing for the various types of sea fish living in the rocky shores or go shell-picking.
Directions: From Tuy Hoa city on National Highway 1A, head north for about 20 km to Phuoc Dong hamlet (An Hai commune, Tuy An district), where there is a beautiful rocky coast called Tiger Cave.
8. O Loan Lagoon

Đầm Ô Loan is an irresistible destination for tourists visiting Phu Yen. If you want to admire the panoramic view of the lagoon, climb to the top of Quan Cau Pass, where you can take in the whole picture of Đầm, with its vast expanse of water, undulating with each passing breeze, gentle hills dotted with lush green sugarcane fields. Besides marveling at the breathtaking beauty of the lagoon, visitors here can indulge in a variety of seafood, especially the famous Ô Loan blood cockles.
Directions: From Tuy Hoa City on National Highway 1A, head north for about 25 km to reach Đầm Ô Loan, located in Tuy An commune.
9. Ghenh Da Dia

Ghenh Da Dia covers an area of about 2 square kilometers, with the narrowest point being about 50 meters and the longest stretch about 200 meters. From a distance, the cliffs resemble stacked plates in a pottery kiln or tiers rising from the sea. After exploring the cliffs, the nearly 3 km-long beach promises visitors moments of relaxation.
Directions: From Tuy Hoa City, take National Highway 1A northward for about 30 km, then turn right at Chi Thanh town and head east for about 12 km to reach Ghenh Da Dia. Alternatively, you can travel along the coastal road, a 35 km stretch from Tuy Hoa City to Ghenh Da Dia. During spring or summer, you can take a boat ride (1-2 hours) from Pier 6, Tuy Hoa City, heading north to reach Ghenh Da Dia. Or from Dân Phuoc Pier, Song Cau town, embark on a boat tour of Xuân Đài Bay, heading out of the bay to the south to reach Ghenh Da Dia.
10. Xuân Đài Bay

From the top of Gang Hill, travelers will be amazed by the picturesque landscape with endless coconut forests, majestic mountains embracing a pristine body of water in Xuan Dai Bay, located in the areas of Xuan Tho, Xuan Thinh, and Song Cau town of Phu Yen province. The bay boasts many beautiful beaches and swimming spots such as Vung La, Vung Su, Vung Chao, along with numerous islands and peninsulas. The beaches here feature crystal-clear shallow waters, allowing visitors to swim far out without any danger.
Directions: From Tuy Hoa City, take National Highway 1A northward for about 45km. Then, catch a boat to reach the bay.
