The Thirteen-Trunk Banyan Tree is an ancient banyan tree over 307 years old, with thirteen trunks, situated in Trại Hamlet, Đằng Giang Ward, Ngo Quyen District. It is a beautiful landscape in Hai Phong City, attracting many visitors. It can be a unique tourist destination for international travelers when visiting the inner city of Hai Phong. The Banyan Tree in Trại Hamlet is located in Đằng Giang Ward, Ngo Quyen District, about 5 km southeast of the city center.
According to local elders, this banyan tree is nearly 1,000 years old, with thirteen trunks and its expansive canopy covering a large area equivalent to about one hectare of Northern Vietnam land. The tree, about 10 meters tall, has up to 30 large and small branches spreading horizontally over a diameter of up to 40 meters. Supporting the tree's branches are auxiliary roots that resemble pillars. With 12 significant auxiliary roots along with a main root, the tree is named the Thirteen-Trunk Banyan Tree. It is considered one of the banyan trees with the most trunks in our country.
