The Tinh Quang Pagoda is situated on a mountainous area to the west-south of Ai Tu village, belonging to Trieu Phong district. The pagoda has various names. Its original name was Am Tinh Do Pagoda, and it is also known by other names such as Sac Tu Tinh Quang Patriarchal Pagoda, Tinh Quang Pagoda, or simply Sac Tu Pagoda. Founded and constructed by Venerable Tu Phap in 1739 during the reign of King Le Hien Tong, 261 years ago, initially named Tinh Nghiep Pagoda. Through various damages and different reigns of kings until today, the current pagoda stands splendid and more radiant. On November 15, 1991, the Vietnamese government officially classified the pagoda as a national-level historical relic of A1 grade according to Decision No. 2009/QD-BVHTT dated November 15, 1991, by the Ministry of Culture and Information.
