1. Top 3 Affordable Cooling Fans for Hot Summer Days
If you're strapped for cash and can't invest in an AC unit, consider these budget-friendly cooling fan models below.
Recently, more and more people are opting for fans for their portability, cost-effectiveness, and notably, their lower electricity consumption compared to air conditioners.
Typically, basic cooling fans consume very little electricity, around 80-100 W/hour (1,000 W = 1 KW, also known as 1 kilowatt-hour), meaning if you use a fan continuously for 10 hours, it would only use about 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity.
1. Sunhouse SHD7713 Cooling Fan
The Sunhouse SHD7713 cooling fan operates at 85 W/hour (with an airflow of up to 2,000 m3/hour), suitable for spaces ranging from 15-20 m2.
The bottom part of the fan is equipped with four small wheels, allowing for easier mobility. During operation, the fan produces noise at around 55 dB and won't disturb your sleep.

The Sunhouse SHD7713 features four air intake surfaces, significantly reducing indoor heat. It comes with a 13-liter water tank, allowing continuous operation for about 10 hours. When the tank runs out of water, the pump automatically shuts off to extend the fan's lifespan.
The front control panel is entirely in Vietnamese, allowing users to adjust the fan speed, direction, cooling mode, ionizing air purification, and timer function. If you prefer not to use the control panel on the fan body, you can use the remote to control functions from a distance.
The cooling pad is made of plant fibers, environmentally friendly, with good odor removal properties and easily removable for cleaning. Currently, the product is being sold for around 2.39 million dong (nearly 500,000 dong cheaper than before).

The product has a compact size, suitable for placement in living rooms, bedrooms... with an operating noise level of about 45 dB and an automatic oscillation mode from left to right.
The water tank has a capacity of 10 liters, accompanied by a water level gauge, making it easy to observe and refill water. In case of water depletion, the pump will automatically shut off to optimize the device.
The control panel comes with a variety of buttons, allowing you to change fan speed, set timers, and turn on/off the misting mode.
The Kangaroo KG50F62 Cooling Fan
This model is larger than the devices in this list, suitable for use in spaces ranging from 20-25 m2. To enhance cooling efficiency, the manufacturer has included two reusable ice boxes, users simply need to put ice into the water tank of the fan for a cooler breeze.
The Kangaroo KG50F62 operates at around 100 W, with an airflow of 3,700 m3/hour. The water tank has a capacity of 30 liters, can be used continuously for about 10 hours, however, according to some consumer feedback, this number is only about 4 hours.

To refill water, you can pour directly into the dry ice tray, there is a water drain valve under the bottom of the tank. Opening the tank for cleaning is relatively more complicated compared to other products. To ensure cooling efficiency, users should clean the water tank and cooling pad after about a month of use.
The fan still comes with all the features as the aforementioned products, however, it lacks a timer mode and automatic pump shut-off when out of water. The Kangaroo KG50F62 is currently being sold for 2.85 million dong when ordered online.
Some notes when using cooling fans:
- Fans can only cool the air, not refrigerate like air conditioners
- Place the fan in a corner of the room, about 20 cm away from the wall for cool air to spread throughout the room
- Regularly clean the water tank and cooling pads
- Turn off the power before refilling water into the tank, then restart the device
- When not in use, unplug the power cord from the socket.
