Top 5 - Natalya
Natalya, the pioneer hero of Arena of Valor, doesn't rely on flashy skills to stay hot, unlike those TikTok idols. The new map buffs mid lane considerably, allowing less mobile mages like Natalya to confidently clear waves and roam for ganks faster.
NatalyaAs mentioned earlier, mid lane is much safer now, which also allows less mobile heroes to shine. Typically, her gameplay involves quickly clearing waves then pressuring the enemy jungle. In the new map, the blue buff area is somewhat risky due to its complex pathways, making it prone to enemy ambushes. Therefore, accompanying teammates for invades and steals is safer and more efficient than going solo. The Dragon and Abyssal areas now have more bushes, making Natalya more dangerous in the early game. If she hides early and predicts enemy movement correctly, opponents will struggle to survive.
Top 4 - Krixi
Simple, effective gameplay that fits every meta is what puts Krixi at the top 4 of today's rankings. Pulling bushes closer to the mid lane creates opportunities for her to hide and surprise enemies without even needing to use Blink.
KrixiIf you farm early and move swiftly to control bushes, she becomes extremely dangerous. Conversely, if Krixi falls behind, she should carefully use her first ability to scout bushes because her weakness lies in her lack of mobility. Without Blink or Frosty's Revenge, if she gets caught by enemies, she's as good as gone. Fortunately, there's only one bush in the river now, and the blue buff area where the monkey used to be has had its bushes removed, so checking and moving will be quicker.
Another point to note when playing this card is that players should be cautious of heroes with long-range and continuous poking abilities like Liliana, Yue, Iggy,... Especially if the enemies have current meta Assassins with burst damage combos like Kaine, Monkey King, Paine,... Therefore, even though Butterfly has a basic gameplay, players still need to practice regularly with her to have the right positioning and the easiest way to dodge attacks.
Top 3 - Yue
Yue isn't just a card making waves in the Vietnamese ranks but also extremely popular in Thai or Taiwanese servers. Unlike heroes in other lanes, the changes in the new map or bushes in the mid lane don't affect her much because her range is long enough to clear waves from afar and safely. With just a normal swipe combined with an enhancement, she can wipe out minion waves easily, so players don't need to push too high.
YueFrom Master rank downwards, players don't prefer Yue much for ranked matches because playing this card requires accurate reading of opponents' movements and precise positioning to create pressure. Conversely, looking up from the Master rank, this card is highly contested because high-ranking players use flashlights more often, so her ban rate also increases accordingly. Another strength of Yue is being able to bypass the Tankers to cut into the enemy's main damage dealers, but the important thing that Mytour wants to emphasize once again is that you need to have good direction and read the opponent's movements well.
Top 2 - Veera
In this 2023 Season 4, Veera is quite hot in ranks, especially from Master downwards. On the Taiwanese server, Veera is the most played mage in Arena of Valor, even though previously the Taiwanese version didn't favor less mobile mages like her.
VeeraThe reason for this sudden appearance is because Garena recently buffed Veera by increasing the damage of her first ability and reducing the cooldown of her second and third abilities. Originally, she was already a terrifying burst damage hero. If players move well and avoid being spotted, Veera can completely create surprise attacks on enemy carries.
The new map has a slight disadvantage for Veera, as hiding in the enemy's blue buff area to ambush is quite risky, because if she happens to get caught out, it's very difficult to escape. Not to mention, if the enemies don't go straight into the buff camp but instead gank from the lanes, it becomes very successful, and at this point, Veera finds it difficult to move because the bushes in the mid lane are pulled in much deeper.
Top 1 - Liliana
Landing Liliana at the top of the mage leaderboard in the mid lane isn't much of a surprise because on the new map, mobile heroes always have a certain advantage in mobility, ensuring access and escape. Liliana's output damage is unquestionably high, even the 15th level Abyssal Dragon gets devoured by her Fox form in just 3 seconds.
Another reason why this card is hot on all 3 servers is because she's a mage type that can adapt to various situations from stable to good, so it's no wonder Liliana is so favored. A good tip for Liliana players is not to stay in Fox form for too long but to transform into Human form for continuous poking because if caught out without her ultimate, she finds it difficult to escape from enemy engages.
LilianaThe build for this Arena of Valor mage rarely includes the Book of the Dead, even if the enemy team has healing abilities because if she gets this item, it'll be difficult for the Fox to reach her maximum power. Considering her burst damage is already quick and strong, this item is sometimes unnecessary. However, if the enemy team has excessive healing like Helen, Taara, Y'bneth,... then players should consider picking up this item in slot 3 or 4.
