Established in 1998 as the College of Stage and Film, Ho Chi Minh City and elevated to the University of Stage and Film, Ho Chi Minh City in 2010. This institution is renowned for nurturing numerous talented actors of today such as Tran Thanh, Huynh Lap, Oc Thanh Van, Truong Giang, Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc... Alongside the guidance of seasoned industry experts, the University offers a range of programs including undergraduate and college degrees in acting for theater, film, and television; as well as college degrees in stage acting.
Admissions at the University of Stage and Film, Ho Chi Minh City involve a combination of competitive exams and admissions assessments. For the theater and film acting program, applicants undergo two rounds of assessments: preliminary and final rounds. Preliminary round includes voice assessment through poetry and prose reading, vocal assessment through singing, and acting aptitude assessment. Final round consists of three components: analysis of artistic works (watching a film and writing an analysis), a self-selected skit and a situation presented by the jury, and assessment of the Vietnamese Literature 12 transcript. Each year, the number of applicants for the University of Stage and Film, Ho Chi Minh City increases, leading to an upward trend in admission scores. Scoring method: Literature and analysis of artistic works have a weightage of 1, while the aptitude test has a weightage of 2.
