Discover the Unique Style of Japanese Train Carriage Hostel

Hokutosei Hostel is situated in the bustling Nihonbashi district, one of Japan's busiest commercial areas.
The majority of the hostel's name and interior furnishings such as beds, stairs, curtains, and seats are repurposed from the high-speed train of the same name, which ceased operations in 2015.
This hostel opened in December 2016, boasts four floors, and 38 beds with a total capacity of 78 guests, including one floor exclusively for female guests.

Guests at this accommodation type, resembling hostels, may be arranged to sleep in shared 'carriages', meaning strangers can bunk together. Additionally, there are two private rooms separated by curtains.
Hokutosei Hostel offers full amenities including a shared kitchen, living room, bathroom, and laundry room. Room rates range from $22. Guests are requested not to bring children under 4 years old.
The Hokutosei high-speed train ran the Tokyo – Sapporo route covering a distance of 1,200km over 27 years, fostering connections with multiple generations of Japanese people.
