The Cristo Rei de Dili Statue
If Rio de Janeiro boasts the giant Christ the Redeemer statue, then East Timor has its own Christ statue called Cristo Rei. Situated east of Dili, Cristo Rei de Dili is one of the tallest Jesus statues in the world, standing at 27 meters. The statue was a gift from the Indonesian government to the people of Timor in 1996. To reach the statue, visitors must climb over 500 steps and pass through bronze sculptures depicting the Stations of the Cross. However, the reward is a panoramic view of the beautiful capital city of Dili and its stunning coastline.

Exploring the Underwater World
Nestled within the Coral Triangle, East Timor boasts pristine coastlines, vast oceans, and diverse coral reefs, making it an ideal destination for underwater exploration. Key diving spots in East Timor include Atauro Island, Pertamina Pier, Tasitolu, and Dirt Track…

Tais Handicraft Market
This is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the culture of this youthful nation. Visitors to the market can marvel at the vibrant colors of woven fabrics, explore stalls selling traditional and unique handicrafts. Here, you can purchase a traditional Tais cloth as a souvenir for your loved ones and friends.

Santa Cruz Cemetery
Rarely does a cemetery make it onto a tourist itinerary, but Santa Cruz is an exception. Serving as a testament to East Timor's history, Santa Cruz is the site of a brutal massacre perpetrated by the Indonesian military on November 12, 1991, resulting in the deaths of over 200 people.

Ramelau Peak
Standing at 2,700 meters high, Ramelau is the tallest mountain in East Timor. Located in Ainaro district, approximately 70 km south of the capital Dili. At the summit stands the statue of Virgin Mary, it takes about 3 hours of trekking to reach the peak. Moreover, this is also the ideal spot to witness the sunrise in the country.

Jaco Island
Covering an area of 11km², Jaco Island shines like a precious gem of East Timor. Since 2007, Jaco Island has officially become a part of Nino Konis Santana National Park. However, what particularly attracts tourists here is that the island has no permanent residents, but that doesn't mean the island won't welcome tourists. It takes about 6 hours by car from Dili to reach this island.
