In today's digital era, social media consumes a significant portion of our daily lives. If you find Instagram no longer serving a purpose, follow the steps below to delete your Instagram account.

1. Safeguard Your Data Before Deleting Your Account
Once you permanently delete your Instagram account, there's no turning back. So, preserve your data to cherish the memories. You wouldn't want your Instagram photos, comments, and friends to bid farewell forever, would you?
The downloaded data serves only as a nostalgic memento.
Step 1: Open Instagram on your phone, tap on your Profile.
Step 2: Click on the Profile icon at the bottom right corner.

Step 3: Access the Three horizontal lines at the top right corner >> Your Activity.

Step 4: Scroll down to the bottom of the activity page and select Download Your Information >> Request Download.

Step 5: In the next step, all you need to do is enter the password for your Instagram account.

After requesting data download, Instagram will take up to 48 hours to process and will send it to you via email. You have 4 days to download and save the data to your computer or phone.
2. How to Permanently Delete Your Instagram Account
Once you've saved your data, you can proceed to delete your account. Instagram provides two options for users: permanent or temporary deletion.
Permanent deletion can only be done on a web browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.). You cannot use the Instagram app for this.
Before your profile vanishes permanently, Instagram will temporarily hide the account for 30 days. Hence, you can restore it if you have a change of heart.
Step 1: Visit the Delete Your Instagram Account page on your browser (make sure you're logged in).

Step 2: Choose a reason for deleting your account from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Enter your password and click Delete. You'll also be informed that your account will be temporarily hidden during this period.

3. Temporary Deletion of Instagram Account
If you just want a break from Instagram, disable your account instead of deleting it permanently. This method allows you to restore your account at any time.
Step 1: Visit Instagram through a web browser. Log in to your account.
Step 2: Hover over the Profile icon at the top right corner >> Profile Page.

Step 3: Select Edit Profile.

Step 4: Click on Temporarily Disable Account at the bottom of the page.

Step 5: Choose a reason for temporarily pausing your account.

Step 6: Enter your account password, then confirm Temporarily Disable Account.

If you feel that Instagram isn't providing you with positive experiences, consider stopping its use by deleting your account. Share this post if you find it helpful!
