Initially, Palace 1 belonged to the ownership of a French millionaire, civil servant - Robert Clément Bourgery. Later, King Bảo Đại's father-in-law - Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Cầu bought the entire palace and gave the right to use it to the king. King Bảo Đại established the Royal Palace here after officially assuming the position of Head of State during the period 1949 - 1954.
