Laptops are becoming more refined in many aspects, yet their designs remain largely unchanged.Laptops are constantly being improved and refined by manufacturers. While it used to be difficult to find a device with good build quality, high specifications, and smooth software, current products easily meet those requirements. However, the designs of these laptops tend to be similar and boring.
That's why I'll introduce you to a list of laptops with unique and unusual designs that have appeared around the world. However, these are just the products I personally like, so feel free to add more devices if you feel there are any omissions.
1. Surface Book with detachable screen
When mentioning Microsoft, people often think of the Surface Pro - a hybrid tablet-laptop with a thin and lightweight design that can run a full version of Windows 10. Some even argue that this is the most innovative product the company has ever created.
Surface Book stands out as the most unique product in the history of laptop and tablet lines. However, looking at the design of the Surface Book series, that opinion might change. For the first time ever, Microsoft - a software giant - has created a device capable of detaching the screen and being used independently as a 'gigantic super tablet.' Hard to believe, isn't it?
Microsoft has equipped the screen portion with an Intel processor and a suitable battery so that users can use it separately from the keyboard. When necessary, you can attach the screen to the keyboard dock, which comes with a dedicated graphics card as well as an extra battery to extend usage time.

The first time I laid eyes on this device, I was mesmerized by its stunning beauty and luxurious finish from Microsoft. To achieve such a unique design, the company has put in a lot of effort to equip it with a special hinge mechanism with countless steel bars fused together.
Perhaps that's why this laptop model can be used flexibly in many different positions. In 2016, Microsoft caused a sensation among users and the tech community in general with this, folks.
2. Acer's Unique Dual-Screen Laptop
Speaking of innovation, Acer is also not lagging behind when it introduced its dual-screen laptop product in 2011. For comparison's sake, Microsoft (another highly innovative laptop manufacturer) only recently unveiled its first dual-screen laptop product in 2019.
Speaking of innovation, Acer is also not lagging behind when it comes to introducing its dual-screen laptop product.Creativity is like that, however, in 2011 people were still quite unfamiliar with a product with such a new design, coupled with the fact that Windows software at that time was not yet perfected as it is today. Therefore, the Acer Iconia 6120 (the name of this dual-screen laptop) wasn't very well received by everyone.
Ultimately, Acer didn't stick with the transparent design for long. Nevertheless, this was still a showcase of technology and paved the way for future dual-screen laptop products.
3. Asus Lamborghini Series with Racecar-Inspired Design
The racecar-inspired design of the product from Asus. While Acer and Microsoft aim for creative and unique designs, Asus focuses its products on a strong, rugged style. A prime example is the Asus Automobili Lamborghini VX7 laptop introduced in 2011, a device created through collaboration with the automotive giant - Lamborghini.

This laptop model is meticulously crafted with sharp edges on the outside, so much so that one might mistake it for a heavyweight racing car. Inside, Asus equips its offspring with top-notch specifications at the time, featuring an Intel Core i7 2630QM processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M dedicated graphics card, and 16 GB of RAM.
In 2011, these specifications and designs left a lasting impression on fans of the Asus Automobili Lamborghini VX7.
4. Sony VAIO P: Surprisingly Compact
Sony always brings surprises to fans, especially with the compact pocket-sized VAIO P laptop. From the beginning of the article until now, I've been listing unique laptop designs for you, but the common denominator among them is that they're too bulky to carry around. Sony took a different approach by combining uniqueness and compactness into one product. And thus, the Sony VAIO P was born.
This product line was created for business customers who appreciate portability and mobility in a laptop without compromising too much on performance. The heart of the machine relies on Intel's renowned Atom processor at that time. There was a time when everyone dreamed of owning a pocket-sized laptop like the VAIO P.
5. ThinkPad X1 Fold with an incredibly intriguing foldable screen design

Following the groundbreaking foldable smartphone from Samsung, the flexible ThinkPad X1 Fold laptop series promises to lead the design trend of computing devices in the future.
Personally, I believe this flexible design language will explode even further in the future as the materials used, such as glass, become more durable, and the prices of these products become more accessible to users compared to their predecessors.
Lenovo has succeeded in bending laptop screens.Returning to the ThinkPad X1 Fold, this foldable screen laptop model boasts impressive specifications such as an Intel Core 11th generation processor, 2 USB Type-C ports, 1 SIM card slot, 8 GB of RAM, up to 1TB of internal storage, and 5G technology.

Surprisingly, despite its unique design and the need for many components, Lenovo keeps its product lightweight (around 1kg). The 13.3-inch display, using pOLED flexible technology, is the most prominent highlight of the ThinkPad X1 Fold.
Users can use a stylus to sketch and take notes on the screen with a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels and a brightness of 300 nits. Lenovo is truly meticulous in perfecting both the design and features of this laptop.

Overall, there was a time when laptops had incredibly creative designs and delighted users. Nowadays, companies are gradually moving towards a safer, less adventurous direction to ensure their revenue. However, there are still some exceptions like the Surface Book, ThinkPad X1 Fold that can bring differentiation and excitement in this somewhat conservative industry.
The list above is selected based on my personal perspective. In future articles, I may introduce more laptops with 'one-of-a-kind' designs for you.
