Distance from Hanoi to Tây Thiên
Tây Thiên, a renowned spiritual site located in Đại Đình commune, Tam Đảo district, Vĩnh Phúc province, lies approximately 70km from Hanoi.
There are two routes from Hanoi to Tây Thiên for private transportation:
1. From Thang Long Bridge, at the Nam Hong intersection, turn left onto the Mê Linh – Phúc Yên – Vĩnh Yên route.
2. From the Nội Bài airport intersection, turn left towards Phúc Yên – Vĩnh Yên. From the city of Vĩnh Yên, continue for approximately 20km following signs to Tam Đảo until you reach your destination.
Alternatively, you can opt for public transportation such as buses or coaches traveling to Tam Đảo, with stops at Tây Thiên.

From Cậu Temple, a cable car goes directly to Quốc Mẫu Tây Thiên Temple, with ticket prices for adults over 1.3m tall at 240,000 VND for a round trip and 150,000 VND for one way; children between 1m and 1.3m tall: round trip 160,000 VND, one way 100,000 VND; children under 1m tall are free of charge.

She played a role in unifying the country with her husband, expanding the territories, and establishing a period of peace and prosperity by teaching people how to cultivate rice and maintain fire. After her passing, she was honored as Quốc Mẫu Tây Thiên, worshipped on Thạch Bàn Mountain, often appearing to assist the subsequent Hùng kings, helping the nation to rise to greatness as the 'Three Daoist Mountains, Great Mother Goddess Supreme Spirit - Supreme Blessed Deity', alongside Quốc Mẫu Tây Thiên, there are other temples worshipping heavenly mothers, land, mountains, and rivers such as Mẫu Thượng Ngàn, Mẫu Thượng Thiên, Mẫu Thượng Địa, and Mẫu Thượng Thoải.
Tây Thiên Pagoda This is the main pagoda along with the Quốc Mẫu Tây Thiên temple at the Tây Thiên scenic spot.
Cô Chín Temple – Earth Mother Temple – Ancestor's Church – Zen Master's Tomb – Fairy Chessboard: these are the surrounding sites near the main Quốc Mẫu Tây Thiên temple and Tây Thiên Pagoda that visitors can choose to visit, enjoy the scenery, and seek blessings.
Phù Nghi Pagoda – Cô Temple – Tịnh Thất Nunnery: these 3 locations are quite far from the Quốc Mẫu Tây Thiên temple area, only those who choose to travel through the mountainous forest paths can reach these locations. If you take the cable car and want to visit these places, you'll have to walk quite a distance.
Trúc Lâm Tây Thiên Zen Monastery
Trúc Lâm Tây Thiên Zen Monastery is located about 2km from the Tây Thiên scenic area. It's recommended to take a 20k shuttle bus from the parking lot to the monastery as the road is quite narrow, accommodating vehicles with 7 to 9 seats. Along with Trúc Lâm Yên Tử Zen Monastery and Trúc Lâm Đà Lạt Zen Monastery, this is one of the three largest Zen monasteries in Vietnam, where numerous retreats are organized for youth, monks, and nuns.
Tam Đảo Tourist Area

When visiting Tây Thiên, travelers can combine it with a trip to Tam Đảo, about 20km from the Tây Thiên scenic area. You can visit the Tam Đảo stone church, Rùng Rình peak, television tower, or Heaven's Gate. The distance from Tam Đảo town to Silver Waterfall is much closer.

Items to bring if visiting in summer: choose long-sleeved shirts, wide-brimmed hats, wear sandals (if trekking along streams, wear water-resistant shoes); in winter and spring, bring a light jacket as the weather can be quite cold during these times.
It's advisable to proactively prepare drinking water and light snacks when visiting Tây Thiên around noon. Exploring Tây Thiên along the stream takes about 3 to 4 hours, while taking the cable car and electric cars only takes from 1.5 to 2 hours.
Offerings For sightseeing visitors, you can prepare vegetarian offerings such as incense, fruits, cakes, and candies... Those who visit Mẫu Temple or Cậu Temple can bring salt offerings.
