Disney leaves audiences disheartened with its bewildering adaptation endeavors.
Once captivating viewers with 'live-action' adaptations like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Belle, Disney now sparks constant controversy with a slew of disappointing female protagonists. From the red-haired mermaid to Marvel's new heroine, all leave audiences underwhelmed.
The Little Mermaid
Following a series of fairly successful adaptation projects, The Little Mermaid marks the first time audiences question Disney's vision. In the upcoming live-action endeavor, Halle Bailey takes on the role of the beloved and familiar Ariel. However, Bailey's appearance and demeanor greatly disappoint, deviating significantly from the cherished image of the iconic mermaid. The film is set to premiere on May 26, 2023.

Snow White
Recently, the initial images of Rachel Zegler portraying Snow White have left the online community deeply unsettled and disappointed. From demeanor to attire, Zegler is considered a complete failure in conveying the familiar image of 'lips as red as blood, skin as white as snow, and hair as black as ebony' entrenched in viewers' minds. Additionally, when compared to 'Queen' Gal Gadot, Rachel Zegler falls significantly short.

Annabeth (Percy Jackson)
Following a series of lackluster film adaptations, the renowned mythological series Percy Jackson will be brought to life by Disney in the form of a television series, featuring an entirely new cast. However, in the initial teaser image, the identity of the female lead portraying Annabeth Chase - daughter of Athena - has left audiences utterly shocked. 'She's a quintessential California girl, but worse, with eyes as gray and sparkling as a storm' is the portrayal of Annabeth in the books. However, through the young actress Leah Sava Jeffrie, viewers fail to see that representation.

She-Hulk
Even Marvel cannot evade Disney's current 'curse,' though this case is relatively more forgivable. The extended series She-Hulk, centered on the 'Green Giantess,' has just released its initial teaser, yet it has left audiences astounded by the portrayal of the female lead. Contrary to expectations, the special effects for She-Hulk appear incredibly amateurish, 'phony,' and rigid, even drawing comparisons to Shrek. Tatiana Maslany takes on this role and will be introduced to audiences starting August 17, 2022.
