After nearly a year of dedication, Divkid officially bids farewell to GAM Esports.
On June 5th, another transfer news in VCS has caused a stir in the Vietnamese LoL community. Specifically, Marksman Divkid has officially left GAM Esports after almost a year with the team. Divkid joined GAM during the mid-season transfer window in 2021.
Although not the first choice for the Marksman position of the VCS Spring 2022 champions, Divkid has consistently demonstrated effort in every match. With GAM, he achieved 2nd place in VCS Spring 2021, won VCS Spring 2022, and earned a gold medal in LMHT at SEA Games 31.
Underneath the farewell post for Divkid, the VCS community jokingly suggests that without the 'trash-talking king', GAM has lost '50% of its power'. Furthermore, on the same day, Divkid penned a heartfelt letter of gratitude to GAM, from the coaching staff to teammates and fans. He also affirmed his continued support for GAM on the path ahead despite no longer being with them.
Divkid's next destination could likely be Genius Esports. While neither the former GAM Marksman nor GE themselves have made any announcements, the Lol.fandom's Global Contract Database (GCD) recently provided this information. Moreover, according to GCD, if Divkid indeed joins GE, he will face significant competition from Slayder - a Marksman equally talented and experienced as Divkid.
In GAM's case, following Divkid's departure, the VCS Spring 2022 champions will only have Sty1e left to play as the Marksman. However, it's likely that GAM won't recruit any other player for this position. Firstly, newcomers would have hardly enough time to compete with Sty1e for the starting spot, from adapting to the team to coordinating with Bie. Secondly, there aren't many quality Marksmen currently available in the free agent market in VCS.
As a result, it's highly probable that GAM will only field one Marksman in VCS Summer 2022 as well as Worlds 2022 afterward, provided that the team qualifies.
