After the release of patch 12.5b, it's evident that the Inventor composition is reigning supreme in the Teamfight Tactics meta. Alongside variations of Assassin teams, Irelia - the Idol, and Duelists have also proven to be formidable due to their ability to swiftly pressure enemy carries. And then, skilled players have gradually discovered that the Jhin - the Ultimate Strategist team is an incredibly strong option to counter the current meta.
Fundamentally, the Jhin - the Ultimate Strategist team operates similarly to standard Marksman compositions, leveraging the long-range capabilities of their carries to secure victories. However, by utilizing up to four Strategists, this composition can effectively lock down both enemy carries and frontline units. Against Inventor teams, the Strategist effect often locks down the Tech Bear and swiftly eliminates it, preventing it from triggering its skills too frequently.
For Assassin compositions, the four Strategists effect can disrupt their attack patterns, leaving champions like Talon or Twitch locked down for a prolonged period. A similar scenario unfolds with compositions like Duelists, Irelia - the Idol, causing their operation to become erratic and more susceptible to defeat.
To construct this composition, it's advisable to start with a Duelist - Marksman team and make use of affordable, high-quality units like Caitlyn, Sejuani, and Illaoi. In the mid-game, aim to reach four Duelists if possible to provide the best protection for Caitlyn, Ashe, or Miss Fortune, who deal damage from the backline. Additionally, Tech units are also a viable option as their synergy is potent in the mid-game.
In the late game, reaching level 8 is crucial to upgrade important 4-cost units like Jhin, Vi, or Orianna to 2 stars. Without playing Inventors, settling for a 1-star Jayce positioned in the frontline to benefit from its armor/magic resist reduction effect is a viable option. You can also reintroduce Ashe as your fourth Marksman or bring Zeri into play if you acquire this unit while rolling.
The technology core is paramount for the Jhin - the Strategist team, with Last Whisper directly increasing Marksman damage output by up to 40%, even at the Silver tier. Additionally, items providing Infinity Trigger or Heart of the Strategist are potent for this composition, allowing you to activate the 4-unit synergy early without relying on Jayce. Furthermore, the Hextech Capacitor is incredibly strong with this team if you intend to use Jayce as a carry.
For the disruptive items, the trio of Infinity Edge, Runaan's Hurricane, and Giant Slayer remains the optimal choice for Jhin. If you manage to assemble Rabadon's Deathcap or Shojin's Spear, Miss Fortune becomes an extremely viable option.
