Reasons for establishing the national park
With an area of 18,765 hectares, the national park is divided into 3 zones: strict conservation area covering approximately 8,594 hectares, ecological restoration area spanning around 10,084 hectares, and administrative-service area comprising about 87 hectares. Lò Gò Xa Mát National Park features a special-use forest zone, accounting for 26% of the total natural forest area in Tây Ninh province.

The national park is traversed by the Vam Co Dong River and several other small channels. The Vam Co Dong River originates from Cambodia, serving as the natural border between Vietnam and Cambodia. In the section that flows through Vietnam at Lò Gò Xa Mát, it stretches for about 20 km with a width of 10-20 meters.

The flora and fauna system of the national park is extremely diverse and rich. The vegetation includes deciduous forests on lowland, semi-deciduous forests, and mangrove forests. Near the border area adjacent to Cambodia, there are mainly grasslands and swampy lands with sedge carpets. There are a total of 696 plant species, including 158 medicinal plants, 58 timber trees, 21 ornamental plants, 10 food plants, and 7 vegetable plants.
