Dong Cao is a small plateau standing about 600 meters high, located in Thach Son commune, Son Dong district, Bac Giang. The flat landscape is covered with lush green grass, and the cool, refreshing climate all year round has turned this place into a familiar camping spot for many young people.

Navigating through the winding road amidst terraced rice fields, passing by scattered Dao ethnic villages, we had two incredibly memorable days at Dong Cao.

Camping tents, open fires, all the gear meticulously prepared for a night outdoors. The locals here sell firewood, guide you to set up tents, and even contribute to a BBQ feast, accompanied by lively singing and cheerful company.

As the night falls and the campfire is lit, a spectacular scene unfolds before us. The Milky Way, with billions of sparkling stars, stretches across the night sky. Simply lay your head on the grass and reach out – it feels like you can almost touch them.

Wake up before sunrise, step out of the tent, and be prepared to be mesmerized as a sea of clouds rolls in. Thick white clouds blanket the valley, creating a thick layer over the landscape, even covering the sun.

Waking up our fellow traveler, we eagerly climbed to the mountain's summit to witness the surreal sunrise.

The higher we ascended, the more the sea of clouds expanded endlessly, creating a breathtaking panorama that leaves you speechless.

Just a moment later, the first rays piercing through thick clouds painted the most beautiful sunrise I've ever witnessed, blending hues of red, gold, and green.

As the sun ascends higher, clouds thicken, the sky turns deep blue, and a sweet sunlight envelops the entire plateau. Early sunlight paints the space in a surreal golden hue. It's the perfect time to showcase your photography skills with some 'Instagrammable' shots.

Young boys herding buffaloes in the fields, their shadows stretching across the meadows.

Dong Cao truly serves as a perfect 'getaway' for the weekend if you're short on time but still crave the beauty of stunning clouds and starry skies.

The best time to visit Dong Cao is during the summer months from June to August, avoiding rainy days, and in the fall from September to November. Set up your tent before nightfall, ensure you have all camping gear, and remember to clean up litter before leaving.
