Only third place for Doraemon!
Recently, Japan's largest voting platform, Goo Ranking, conducted a massive poll to determine the most beloved cartoon characters. The event garnered over 175 thousand votes, rated on a scale from 0 to 100. Here are the top 10 renowned and adored characters from Japan's iconic animation projects.
10. Kuroba Kaito (Kaito Kid)
Contrary to popular belief, Kaito Kid, not Conan, reigns as Japan's most beloved character. Inheriting his late father's legacy, high school student Kuroba Kaito becomes a notorious thief, captivating audiences with his every appearance on screen. Kaito Kid's widespread popularity is evident in the numerous standalone films, such as Magic Kaito, dedicated to his adventures.
9. Shoto Todoroki
'Introverted' characters often captivate audiences easily, and Shoto Todoroki is one of them. The red-haired lad from My Hero Academia endured a tough childhood, witnessing his mother's abuse by his father. As he grew up, he ignored his fire quirk inherited from his father and solely relied on his ice power. With a distinctive scar on his face and a calm demeanor, Todoroki attracts a large audience, ranking 9th on this list.

8. Tomioka Giyuu
Although not as favored by the other Pillars of the Demon Slayer Corps, Giyuu is more impressive to the audience. The Water Pillar possesses an 'immutable' face and top-notch skills that immediately grab viewers' attention from the first episode, when he discovers Tanjiro and Nezuko, taking them in as demon slaying apprentices. Similar to Todoroki from My Hero Academia, Giyuu's quiet demeanor speaks volumes, easily earning viewers' affection.

7. Inumaki Toge
Toge is one of the two characters from Jujutsu Kaisen

6. Tokitou Muichirou
Alongside Giyuu, another Pillar from Demon Slayer unexpectedly ranks 6th on the list - Tokitou Muichirou. The Mist Pillar is known for being quiet and reserved, largely due to significant childhood trauma. Muichirou achieved Pillar status in just a few short months, a remarkably impressive feat. Notably, Muichirou made the voting list even before his own spin-off series - The Forge Village - aired.

5. Rimuru Tempest
Rimuru stands out as the most unique character on the list, serving as the central figure in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Rimuru may have the appearance of a beautiful girl, but is actually male. Prior to his new life in the fantasy world, Rimuru was a 37-year-old man leading a mundane, repetitive life until he died saving a colleague from an attack. In the new world, Rimuru is a liquid entity known as a 'slime,' gradually exploring life and embarking on thrilling adventures.
4. Gintoki Sakata
The comedic series Gintama is considered a 'melting pot' of numerous animation projects, making its fame undeniable. Thus, protagonist Gintoki easily secures a high rank on the list. Gintoki never fails to make audiences laugh with his lazy, almost apathetic demeanor towards everything except sweets and manga. However, Gintoki's attractiveness can't be denied, with his white hair, extravagant attire, and captivating combat moments.

3. Doraemon
Doraemon remains an enduring icon of Japanese animation. The image of the blue robotic cat from the future is famous across Asia. Doraemon brings meaningful stories to audiences alongside the group of friends, including Nobita, an integral part of the childhoods of millions of viewers. Despite being a classic character, Doraemon finds himself taking a back seat in the modern era to make way for newer names.

2. Gojo Satoru
Despite only debuting in its first season, Jujutsu Kaisen quickly became one of the most acclaimed animations. Among them, character Gojo Satoru emerged as the top favorite, surpassing even the protagonist Itadori Yuji. Often appearing with a cool demeanor and covered eyes, Gojo is one of the strongest characters in the show and serves as a mentor to most of the cast.

1. Levi Ackerman
Leading the list is the skilled captain Levi Ackerman from Attack on Titan. From his first appearance, Levi showcased his prowess and skill above others in the battle against Titans, leading the squad to protect the people's safety. Whenever Levi appears, viewers are treated to a series of thrilling action scenes. Despite later suffering injuries, rendered disabled by Zeke's trap, he is still loved and admired by most viewers for his kindness and efforts to rise above a bitter past.
