I am Mai Anh, a student from Vietnam. The advancement of Facebook and the Internet allows people to easily share information. One of the greatest distinctions of today's era is that I can send my messages to you directly on Facebook, the social media platform that you and your colleagues have constructed.
Nevertheless, I still wish to send a traditional open letter to you to share the user's perspective, as a means for us to collectively cherish the fundamental values of life.
The first thing I wish to share is the phenomenon of 'Facebook addiction,' a problem that needs to be restrained and adjusted, as it leads to many undesirable consequences. If you hear about this, you may feel a sense of pride in the social media platform you have created. However, in reality, Facebook may need to orient itself to minimize the consequences of 'Facebook addiction' for sustainable development.
Facebook serves as a social network, a place for chatting, relaxing, entertaining, sharing, disclosing emotions, and updating information. It can be said that Facebook is a new world where we can freely converse, chat, and even encounter many celebrities through this network system.
Facebook also functions as a form of entertainment where many young people seek to relieve stress, find empathy, and share emotions with those around them. It allows us to understand the feelings and emotions of those around us without the need for face-to-face interaction. It's simple and convenient.
However, Facebook has become a network that easily leads to addiction for users if they do not know how to control their time and themselves.
Many people nowadays spend excessive amounts of time scrolling through Facebook every day: using it during school, work, hanging out with friends, or even when spending time with family. It seems that without Facebook, many people feel that life becomes dull and extremely bland.
Many secondary and high school students nowadays are being drawn into Facebook. The smartphone becomes inseparable, and they spend too much time on it. Consequently, their study time is reduced.
Sometimes, people may think having thousands of friends on their list is impressive, but they fail to realize that they are narrowing down many relationships around them.
Close relationships become distant, space for friends diminishes, and the study time of students like me is disrupted. Moreover, your mind gradually loses emotions due to these virtual things.
Furthermore, on Facebook, many people may post unhealthy content with the sole purpose of seeking attention or using uncivilized language.
Online scams are frequent occurrences, and many people are prone to falling into traps if they lack vigilance. Numerous individuals have lost money by following prize-winning messages on Facebook, sometimes losing millions by mistakenly believing they are transferring money to relatives without realizing their account has been hacked.
Incidents related to users' personal information on Facebook still regularly cause public outcry.
In general, Facebook faces numerous challenges in its breakthrough development, which is the perspective of me and many others. As mentioned above, I hope Facebook always prepares good solutions for sustainable development of both society and this social network.
