- Drako Dragon has just been revealed as the second model of the startup company based in San Jose, California (USA), following the GTE model introduced in 2019. What makes Dragon highly anticipated is its tremendous power. Specifically, the car can generate 2,000 horsepower, with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in 1.9 seconds, before reaching a top speed of up to 322 km/h. Currently, Drako has only released teaser images of this model. More details about the exterior design as well as technical specifications will be announced later this year.
In 2019, Drako's first car, the GTE, was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance charity event. It immediately garnered attention for its 1,200 horsepower and was developed based on the chassis of the 'brilliant but ill-fated' Fisker Karma (Fisker Automotive - predecessor of Fisker went bankrupt just over a year after introducing the hybrid sports car named Karma).Drako Motors announces they will only manufacture 25 units of the GTE, starting at a base price of $1.3 million USD. Currently, the company is in the assembly phase and delivering the GTE to customers as well as their partners. Meanwhile, during this process, the company has also been preparing for the future, a brand-new all-electric 'super SUV' - Dragon.
Dragon will run entirely on electricity, and Drako reveals it's not just an ordinary electric SUV like those already on the market. The car can produce 2,000 horsepower, with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in 1.9 seconds, before reaching a top speed of up to 322 km/h. Four motors will be individually installed in each wheel, and the battery is developed by Drako itself. Dragon features a 3-stage suspension system, with the ability to adapt and control the torque of each wheel separately.
Technical specifications are currently being researched and determined by the development team in Silicon Valley, while the design of the car is led by Lowie Vermeersch, who previously served as the design director at Pininfarina and also played a significant role in the design of the GTE. The first images of the car are quite clear. We have a glossy golden SUV, highlighted with impressive front/rear lighting patterns and doors that open upward like bird wings.Drako announces that the interior of the car will be upholstered with the 'best, most luxurious leather from Europe' and will accommodate 5 seats. Carbon fiber will be extensively used in the structure of the Dragon. Drako states that the car's price will be more competitive than existing super SUVs. Although not naming any specific models, current super SUVs include the Lamborghini Urus or the Aston Martin DBX 707, with starting prices from over $200,000 USD. Not to mention the upcoming Ferrari Purosangue. Drako says that ordering will soon be available before the official launch of this model later this year.Source: Caranddriver
