According to Liliputing, Dropbox has quietly restricted the maximum linked devices for free accounts to 3 starting this month. If linked devices exceed 3, users will have to pay a fee of 10 USD for the Plus package and 20 USD for the Professional package. Devices already linked to the account will remain intact but limited to a maximum of 3 devices.

Dropbox's move is not surprising; it's a way for the company to encourage users to use their paid services. Many companies have previously applied similar strategies, such as Evernote limiting free user accounts to 2 devices in 2016.
However, for users accustomed to using Dropbox for syncing their data on the free cloud storage service, there are two options: either pay or seek alternative cloud storage services.
