(Motherland) - With the victory over EDG in the Quarterfinals of Worlds 2022, DRX has achieved a highly remarkable milestone.
In the early hours of October 24th (Vietnam time), the final Quarterfinal match of the World Championship 2022 commenced with DRX facing off against EDward Gaming (EDG). Prior to the match, DRX wasn't highly favored as EDG were the reigning champions of Worlds 2021. DRX, not a star-studded team, faced numerous challenges during the Group Stage.
After EDG surged ahead 2-0, many spectators predicted a dire outcome for DRX. However, with their resilience, Deft and his teammates orchestrated one of the most remarkable comebacks in Worlds 2022. Tears of joy flowed freely from Deft and Pyosik after the match. Additionally, DRX prepared a birthday celebration for Deft right on the tournament stage.
DRX not only becomes one of the last 3 LCK teams remaining in the Semifinals of Worlds 2022 but also sets a new milestone for the region and the team's history. All 5 players who were members of DRX during the 2020 season - the last time the team appeared in a Worlds tournament - have advanced to the Semifinals. They are Deft, Chovy, Keria, Pyosik, and Doran. Among them, only Deft and Pyosik remain with DRX.
Furthermore, all 5 members of DRX from that year are in prime position to become the champions of Worlds 2022. Keria is showcasing excellent form with T1, while Doran and Chovy represent Gen.G Esports - the top contenders for the championship. As for Deft and Pyosik, following their triumph over EDG, fans can expect surprises from DRX.
However, the journey of LCK teams will not be easy with JD Gaming still present - the last hope of the LPL region. At Worlds 2021, three LCK teams faced off against one LPL team, and the results were clear to everyone. Surely, no LCK fan wants history to repeat itself again at this Worlds.
