Why Pentakill?
The current meta is very understandable, revolving around only 3 champions: Ahri, Caitlyn, and Ezreal - with Blue Buff + Red Buff combo in every match. Pentakill with Karthus + Akali assassins may be underrated, but that doesn't mean it's weak.
Unlike another clan, Disco, which is also unpopular, Pentakill doesn't need 5-cost champions and can roll down at level 8. Most of its carries are uncontested, so you'll find it very easy to build your team earlier than others in the lobby, gaining a health advantage to climb to the top. This comp can have 3 carries, but usually besides Karthus with spell items, Viego or Akali, whichever reaches 2-star first, will be given attack and half sustain items like Infinity Edge, Bloodthirster, or Hand of Justice.
This comp revolves around 3 champions: Karthus, Akali, and Viego. Basically, Karthus still goes with Shojin + Guardian Angel combo, while Akali and Viego can share items, prioritizing attack items and half sustain items like Infinity Edge, Bloodthirster, or Hand of Justice.
Core items to choose: Punk Plaything, Blue Buff, Little Friends, Full Gear, Lifeline, Vampiric Emblem, Guardian Angel...
How to play and level up
You can force Pentakill in every match because currently its contested rate in the meta is almost 0. It's not about losing streaking to get Spatula for Pentakill synergy, but rather about maintaining health early on. Your advantage lies in not worrying about losing champions if you don't roll early. While other metas have to level up at 4-1 or at the latest 4-2 to roll, you can comfortably econ mid-game.
So initially, just play forms that maintain health as much as possible, and in terms of items, prioritize building physical items first, since we have 2 AD carries, Viego and Akali. For example, between Infinity Edge and Shojin, you should prioritize Infinity Edge, Karthus only needs one Shojin core item, and if lacking in AP and tankiness, you can also build Rabadon's Deathcap early on.
Level up to 6 at 3-2, from here you should scout the players in the lobby to prepare your mid-game strategy. Usually in this meta, people will finalize their comp after the second carousel round. The only comp that might contest with you is Yone reroll, otherwise all other meta comps, including Ahri Vanguard, will use Ekko instead of Mordekaiser, so if you check the lobby and see everyone going Blue Buff with Quicksilver, or some players holding Giant's Slayer, then rest assured no one is contesting Pentakill.
In stage 3.x, if you happen to get a 3-star Superstar Mordekaiser, you can grab it and use it until the end, we can get Mordekaiser 3-star at level 8. If playing this way, give Mordekaiser many sustain items to take advantage of his innate ability, a Giant's Slayer isn't bad either. Otherwise, you'll usually save money to roll at 8 for a complete comp, always fielding your strongest team mid-game, maintaining health is the key.
Unlike other metas that reach level 8 at 4-2 and start rolling immediately, your advantage is not fearing contention, so you can econ until 4-3 before rolling. The benefit of this is that the lobby has cleared out 4-cost champions, once you've got Ahri, Caitlyn, and Ezreal, rolling for Pentakill becomes very easy. Also, you shouldn't worry about losing Akali, as we only need one to activate the synergy, and carry items can be given to Viego as usual.
Best to use Karthus Pentakill Superstar (don't grab Karthus if you're the Blade Master). When using Viego, both Pentakill and God-King are good, but God-King is preferred because you won't lack champions at level 8. As for Akali, it's not advisable to make her a Superstar, as it will oversaturate the synergy.
You'll roll until you upgrade all your carries to 2 stars, grab Mordekaiser too because you'll be playing at level 8 for a long time, it might even reach 3 stars. This comp can hit power spikes at 5 or 7 Pentakill (requires 1 spatula), later on, go up to 9 and include 5-cost champions depending on the situation.
Pentakill is a very easy comp to play, easy to roll, and has a champion advantage in the current meta. It's healthy around stage 4 to early 5, if weak players are all gone by then, reaching top 4 is good, higher than that depends on luck.
