Strengths of Ezreal + Caitlyn Combo
Essentially, this composition resembles the Ezreal + Twisted Fate setup but with higher damage output. Currently in this meta, Twisted Fate struggles compared to other carries due to the lack of reliable magic resist reduction. Meanwhile, Caitlyn benefits from the 8-bit buff and the flexibility of its items. With Ezreal, you can even consider equipping the Blue Buff now that it's been buffed for AD.
Ezreal and Caitlyn can share some items, but it's essential to have a Last Whisper. Following that, items like Infinity Edge, Giant Slayer, or Red Buff are crucial. Avoid building Blade of the Ruined King for these two champions as their spell cast times are too long. For energy replenishment items, Shojin is ideal for Caitlyn while Blue Buff suits Ezreal. For tank items, the best combo is Bloodthirster + Guardian Angel. You don't necessarily have to focus solely on attack items; splitting them evenly between the two carries, such as 2-2 or 3-1, is also viable.
Recommended core items: Rapid Firecannon, Runaan's Hurricane, Infinity Edge, Full Items, Phantom Dancer, Bloodthirster, Last Whisper, Friends Far Away...
Gameplay and Team Composition
This composition offers various starting options depending on your item drops and champion rolls. A winning start would involve acquiring Corki to activate the 8-bit buff or Jinx for frontline damage, along with building offensive items like Last Whisper or Infinity Edge. Alternatively, you might face consecutive losses if you end up with Heartsteel early on, as it's a staple item throughout the game.
Consider playing this composition only if you're not getting too many Spatulas, as Tear of the Goddess can be used to craft Blue Buff, whereas Spatulas are almost useless in this lineup—only Crown of the Iron Solari is viable. If you're new to playing this composition, it's best to focus on maintaining health rather than win streaks since in the late game, you'll have the flexibility to rotate champions extensively.
Reach level 6 by round 3-2; if you already have enough items for your carries by then, consider rerolling slightly to upgrade your Super Stars and maintain health. Prioritize long-range or +2-star frontline units such as Aphelios, Senna, Sett, Samira, or Kaisa... Don't hold onto gold or losing streaks if you have Heartsteel, as you'll need to maintain good health in the mid-game to have time to pivot at level 8.
Always keep at least 1 copy of tier 1 or 2 champions like K'Stante - Aphelios on your bench to quickly deploy later. During this phase, if you're not comfortable with the composition yet, stick to conventional frontline units like Vanguards before gradually transitioning to a tankier lineup.
This composition typically rerolls at 4-2 when reaching level 8, aiming to secure either Ezreal or Caitlyn—regardless of their traits—or utilizing tanky champions like Sett, Ekko, or Blitzcrank as Super Stars. It's crucial to note that in the initial reroll, you must have a Super Star on the board, even if you don't immediately find Ezreal or Caitlyn. Avoid being too eager to find specific champions early on; focus on maintaining health with equipped items instead.
The standard formation for this composition is Ezreal + Caitlyn with the 8-bit buff, Infiltrators, Jinx, and Heartsteel (K'Stante can be omitted if the composition feels weak), optionally supplemented with 4 Vanguards or 2 Vanguards depending on the lobby's composition. Reroll until both carries reach 2 stars, along with the frontline reaching 2 stars, to unleash its full potential.
In the late game, you can transition your champions into various forms depending on the Super Stars, such as pivoting to Lucian instead of Aphelios and activating Chrono, or utilizing Jhin instead of Miss Fortune... This composition has the potential to evolve massively at level 9, rivaling even Exodia.
The Ezreal and Caitlyn composition isn't an easy one to play, so make sure to practice flexing and itemization beforehand.
