DxOMark's verdict: iPhone 15 Pro Max reigns as the world's premier selfie camera phone

Recently, DxOMark released the evaluation results of 's selfie camera quality. The results indicate that the device has surpassed its competitors to become the best selfie camera smartphone today.

Both Max and feature a 12-megapixel front camera with a 1/3.6-inch sensor size, supporting autofocus and optical image stabilization. However, DxOMark attributes the Pro Max's outstanding performance to the A17 Pro chip and new image signal processor (ISP).

The successor's selfie camera of Max impresses with precise exposure, fast and accurate autofocus, wide dynamic range, and high detail in daylight conditions. DxOMark also commends its effective video stabilization, delivering smooth operation even when users are on the move while recording.

However, the camera also has some drawbacks. iPhone 15 Pro Max's selfie camera tends to have a large depth of field, which can lead to noise in the image, even in good lighting conditions. The camera may also exhibit color inaccuracies and varying sharpness in video recording.

Similarly, in portrait mode, the Face ID module accurately calculates depth, producing advanced and natural background blur effects.

However, as the example photo shows, Apple is facing difficulties with small details like individual hairs, which can make portrait mode look like simulated software when examined closely.
