DESIGN, COMFORT, AND BATTERY LIFE
Similar to the previously reviewed Earfun Free Pro and Earfun Free Pro 2, Earfun Air Pro SV is another model from the brand inspired by the Fiil – Fiil CG Pro, untested on this website. Once again, nothing to be ashamed of.
Earfun Air Pro SV features a compact charging case with an opening on the lid, allowing you to glimpse the earbuds nestled inside. It creates an intriguing effect, although some Scarbir.com readers noticed something different inside…
The case is not only small but also lightweight. A single LED on the front changes color to indicate the remaining battery life. The case can recharge the earbuds four times. After that, you can provide it with a fresh power supply via USB-C or wireless charging.
Gently slide the earphones out of the box from below, and they will magnetically clasp together until you pull them apart. The in-ear design of Air Pro SV looks elegant with its sleek and lightweight dark gray body. Inside, Fiil employs the renowned diagonally shaped earbuds that always provide a comfortable and snug fit, featuring oval-shaped rubber tips attached to them. With IPX5 water resistance, they can withstand rain and sweat, making them excellent companions for sports. Due to the triangular-shaped stem, Air Pro SV picks up some wind noise when you're moving at a certain speed—such as when running or cycling.
Battery life is impressive and delightful. The earphones have a lifespan of approximately 4.5 hours with ANC on and up to 6 hours with this feature turned off. It's a decent score for ANC earphones these days.
CONTROL AND CONNECTION
Earfun Air Pro SV has excellent connectivity. The earphones pair and connect swiftly when taken out of the box, and the Bluetooth signal remains strong up to 9-10 meters from your device. No audible glitches were encountered during the testing process.
A preferred option like multipoint connectivity is not available—you can't switch between multiple connected devices. Music doesn't automatically pause when you take the earphones out, but that's hardly an issue, thanks to the convenient transparent mode and easily operable controls—of course, including the pause function:
- Double-tap on L or R to play/pause music
- Press R to increase the volume
- Press L to decrease the volume
- Triple-tap on R to skip to the next track
- Triple-tap on L to (de)activate the gaming mode
- Hold R to activate voice assistant
- Hold L to switch between ANC on, Transparent mode, and ANC off
For those desiring an option to rewind a track instead of activating the gaming mode, you can do so through the app. Earfun's connectivity and controls are functioning seamlessly.
CALLS, MOVIES, AND GAMING
Phone calls can be easily made in a quiet environment. Your voice comes across loud and clear. Similarly, for video calls like Microsoft Teams and Zoom meetings, where your voice is effortlessly picked up and superior to background noises like keyboard clicks and distant conversations.
Strangely, this doesn't apply to outdoor phone calls. If you stay silent, everything remains calm and quiet on the other end. However, if you start talking, Air Pro SV will also conquer the surrounding environment. Wind noise, accelerating scooters and cars, and faint chattering voices can be heard, sometimes pushing your voice farther away, making it hard to hear.
Watching videos is a breeze on Earfun, with perfect synchronization between audio and video on both iPhone and Android. In gaming mode, there's a slight audio delay for in-game actions you see on the screen, but playing mobile games like Call of Duty is entirely feasible.
SUPPORT FOR EARFUN AIR PRO SV APP
Air Pro SV marks the brand's first model to offer app support. The free My Earfun app is available on both iPhone and Android. Although you may need to restart the iPhone app to detect the headphones, it seems robust and operates seamlessly. Your options include:
- Check the battery status of both left and right earphones
- Update the base program
- Switch between ANC on, Ambient mode, and ANC off
- (De)activate gaming mode
- Change the device name
- Read the product user guide
- Customize control options for triple-tap and press-and-hold actions
- Select from four different EQ presets or create your own
With control options, you can initiate gaming mode for a convenient track rewind feature.
Unfortunately, the EQ presets don't deliver as promised in their appearance. Out of the four options (Bass Boost, Bass Reduce, Treble Boost, Treble Reduce), only Bass Boost seems to have some effect—adding weight to the bass and midrange. The others don't noticeably alter the sound. Hopefully, a future firmware update will change this.
ANC NOISE CANCELLATION TEST OF AIR PRO SV
Earfun Air Pro SV allows you to switch between ANC on, Transparent mode, and ANC off by holding the left earphone. Voice prompts announce the function you've just activated—simple and understandable.
ANC Quality: The active noise cancellation feature on Earfun Air Pro SV performs admirably in minimizing ambient sounds. Electronic noises like fridge hums can be significantly softened or rendered inaudible.
Less consistent sounds, such as conversations, traffic, and nearby construction noises, may still be audible, although the output volume is considerably reduced—especially for lower frequencies. Play music at a moderate volume, and you'll hear little to nothing around you.
Transparent Mode Quality: The Transparent mode/Environmental mode delivers clear midrange and brighter sound when needed—and it does so effortlessly. It's easy to pick up on nearby conversations and identify traffic positions. All done naturally; even when listening to music at a moderate volume, ambient sounds remain distinct and not overly metallic.
Wind Noise Reduction: Unfortunately, Earfun Air Pro SV has quite a bit of wind noise in both ANC and Transparency modes. It's great to have the option to turn off ANC on the in-ear headphones, but as mentioned, due to their design, wind noise still contends with your music when you're accelerating.
Unless you regularly bike or work out with these in-ear headphones, Earfun Air Pro SV's ANC functions are sufficient.
SOUND QUALITY OF EARFUN AIR PRO SV
Earfun headphones consistently deliver a hefty dose of bass and warm sound. The Air Pro SV's are Earfun's best performers to date.
The new Earfun's extra bass plunges deep, providing a profound sensation and the potential for a powerful, controlled rumble, as demonstrated in the excellent test track 'Limit to Your Love' by James Blake. No rough edges, no looseness—Air Pro SV's lowest frequencies are truly impressive. The mid-bass brings a strong, lingering punch, adding weight to the bass. When extended, it's not the quickest bass, but the speed is sufficiently brisk to inject energy into songs.
Lower midrange tones will add color to the music on Air Pro SV. They're powerfully boosted to create drum impact and enhance electronic tones in songs. The music maintains a pleasant warmth at higher frequencies. Both male and female vocals lean forward without the metallic edge of some previous ANC in-ear headphones. Even the highest vocals are very audible, as they taper off before they can become piercing or strident.
In the middle frequencies, the midrange dips slightly. Playing guitar and piano has a warm background akin to other instruments—they tend to lean towards the lower midrange, providing rich sound for genres like jazz and blues, but not always the most natural representation of the instruments.
Beyond the warmer tones, the instruments themselves are also well articulated. Air Pro SV lives up to its name and provides enough space between vocals and instruments. Whispers, drums, and other details come from both your left and right, and while the instrument placement isn't the most precise, the instruments still maintain their spatial integrity even in crowded musical compositions.
Earfun Pro Air SV is not only Earfun's best-sounding to date; with enjoyable, energetic, and detailed sound, it's an affordable pair of wireless ANC headphones.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
Earfun Air Pro SV impresses with robust active noise cancellation, engaging and detailed sound, but you might need to reconsider if you're an avid cyclist or use your phone all day.
