With these two simple and cost-effective methods, you can cultivate lush green onion sprouts to prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year festivities.

1. Growing Green Onions in Water
Preparation
Select onions with large bulbs and healthy leaves, without any signs of withering or wilting.
Get a sharp knife or scissors.
Prepare a glass or transparent cup.
Have some lukewarm water ready.

Step 1: Prepare clean onions by cutting them in half. Use the leafy part for cooking as usual, and keep the white root part with roots intact.
Step 2: Soak the white root part of the onion in a cup of water and place it in a cool, ventilated area. Change the water every 2 days.

Step 3: After about 8 days, you will notice onion sprouts emerging, ready to grow into green shoots.

Step 4: Transfer the sprouted onions into soil, ensuring they have enough space to grow. Keep the soil moist and watch your onions thrive!

Over the span of a week, you can continually harvest green onions, as they will keep growing new shoots from the base. You can harvest 2-3 times.

This planting method is straightforward and clean, though the growth of the plants is slower compared to planting them in outdoor soil or plastic bottles.
