Songs downloaded from the internet may have inaccurate information. As a music enthusiast, you want to edit music file details such as artist name, album title, genre, and year of release to match the actual song information. To edit music file details, you can utilize the TagScanner software.
TagScanner allows you to quickly edit music file details. The following guide demonstrates how to edit music file details using TagScanner software. Let's follow along!
Step 1: You need to download and install TagScanner software on your system. Alternatively, you can download the Portable version to use without installation.

Step 2: Use the application to edit music file details by switching to the second tab called TAG EDITOR.
Step 3: Select the music file you want to edit details for by clicking Browse.
A window Select folder with music files will appear, where you select the folder containing the music files you want to edit details for, then click Select Folder.
Step 4: Edit the details of the music files.
After selecting the folder containing the music files, a list of music files appears on the left side of the application interface. You select the music file you want to edit details for from the list, and the details of the music file will appear on the right side of the application interface. To edit the details, simply place the mouse cursor on the information you want to edit and make changes.
Some key details include:
- Title: Song title.
- Artist: Name of the performing artist.
- Album: Album title of the song.
- Album Artist: Name of the artist who performed the album.
- Year: Year of song composition.
- Genre: Music genre.
- Comment: Comment about the song.
- Composer: Music composer.
In addition, there are other extended details in the Extended section, images for the song in the Embedded art section, and lyrics in the Lyrics section. You can add or modify them as desired.
Step 5: After finishing the edits, select Save to store the newly edited information for the music file.
