After recovering from illness, my hair was shedding so much, and it seemed like I was on the brink of baldness. Fortunately, by following my grandma's hair loss remedy, after just a few washes, my hair has grown thick, long, and resistant to shedding. Now, I can run my fingers through it without losing a handful like before.

About 6 months ago, a severe illness coupled with constant stress caused my hair to shed excessively. Every time I combed my hair, I pulled out handfuls of it. Sometimes, I felt my scalp and thought I was on the brink of baldness. Fearing the use of artificial hair in the future, I decided to ditch all commercial shampoos and chemical treatments, switching to washing with a homemade herbal formula using only bồ kết and pomelo peel. Surprisingly, it worked wonders!
Even though my grandma is almost 70, her hair remains thick and feels as soft as silk, retaining its natural black color without ever using hà thủ ô. Some young girls in the village even envy her hair.
In bồ kết, there's a 10% concentration of saponin, the yellowish substance that creates foam. Its primary functions include anti-inflammatory properties and deep cleansing abilities. Since ancient times, our ancestors have known how to utilize bồ kết for hair nourishment, treating dandruff, fungal infections, reducing breakage, and stimulating hair growth for a darker, glossier appearance.
From a hairline that was shedding and exposing patches of my scalp, my hair has now grown thicker and longer rapidly. While it may not be as majestic as in the days of being dubbed the 'princess of flowing locks,' it's still a remarkable restoration.
This bồ kết hair treatment requires:
–small pieces of bồ kết: 1 handful
–dried pomelo peel: 1 piece
–lemon: 1 piece
–1 drawstring fabric bag
How to treat hair loss with bồ kết:
Step 1: After buying bồ kết from the market, I discard any damaged ones and store the rest in a cool place. Before shampooing, I take about a handful of bồ kết, break it into small pieces, and lightly roast it on the stove to enhance its fragrance and release beneficial nourishing properties for the hair. The amount of bồ kết can be adjusted based on the length and thickness of your hair.
Step 2: After roasting, I place the bồ kết in a small drawstring fabric bag, immerse it in a pot with around 2 liters of water, and simmer for 30 minutes, allowing the bồ kết to release all its goodness.
Step 3: As it nears completion, I add dried pomelo peel to the pot and let it simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes before removing. Remember to add pomelo peel later, as its essential oils are easily evaporated.

Step 4: Remove the bồ kết pieces and pomelo peel, dilute with enough lukewarm water, and use a comb to gently brush through the hair, ensuring the bồ kết water is applied multiple times. Remember to place a basin underneath! Comb and massage gently to allow the nourishing bồ kết water to deeply penetrate the hair roots.

Step 5: After washing multiple times with bồ kết water, I take a basin of clean water, squeeze in a lemon, and give a final rinse. Lastly, I use a cotton towel to gently blot excess water from my hair and let it air dry naturally.
Results after several washes:
In just 3 weeks of washing (every other day), eliminating all commercial shampoos and transitioning to bồ kết and pomelo peel, my hair has undergone remarkable recovery. It has become unbelievably dark and silky, with thicker, lush growth. Even pulling my hair doesn't result in the same excessive shedding as before.
