USB devices are incredibly convenient for copying and storing important documents. However, if not handled carefully, they can easily become infected with viruses, posing a significant threat to your computer. In this article, we will guide you through a highly effective method to prevent virus infection on your USB drive. Please read on for more information.
To protect your USB from viruses, we recommend using the NTFS Drive Protection software. This software allows you to temporarily freeze USBs or external hard drives formatted in NTFS, thereby safeguarding the stored data and preventing virus intrusion. With this feature, no one can copy new data, delete, or modify files on these devices.
One of the advantages of this application is that you can create a non-protected folder to comfortably copy data as usual.
To download the application, please visit the following link: https://www.sordum.org/8117/ntfs-drive-protection-v1-5/
Important Note: Before using the software, ensure that your USB is formatted in NTFS. You can check this by right-clicking on the USB drive, selecting Properties, and checking the File system section.

If your USB is formatted in FAT32, you can format it to NTFS. Note that formatting will erase all data, so make sure to back up your data elsewhere.
To change to NTFS format, right-click on the USB, select Format. In the new window, choose NTFS under the File System section and click OK. Wait for a moment, and it will be done.

Now you can re-copy your data to the USB and utilize the NTFS Drive Protection software.
After downloading the software, proceed to extract the files. You will encounter several files as shown below. Double-click the .exe file to launch the application.

On the program interface, follow the steps outlined below:

- Select your USB or external hard drive.
- Create a non-protected folder for regular data copying (Enter the name and press the green plus sign).
- Click Start Protection to initiate safeguarding.
Congratulations! Your USB is now protected. Whenever you attempt to copy or delete a file on your USB, you'll receive a notification indicating insufficient privileges.

Inside your USB, there's a non-protected folder you created in step 2. You can freely copy data within this folder.

To deactivate the protection, simply open the software, select the USB drive, and click Stop Protection. That's it!

Above is a guide on effectively safeguarding your USB against virus infections using NTFS Drive Protection software. We hope you find this article helpful. Best wishes for success!
