Guide to Efficiently Erasing Unwanted Files with Ace File Shredder
To effectively utilize Ace File Shredder for data deletion, you must download and install the software on your computer. You can download the latest version of Ace File Shredder here.
Software Interface Introduction
- Shred Files…: Fragment files to securely delete them or permanently erase files.
- Shred Folders…: Fragment folders to securely delete them or permanently erase folders.
- Wipe Free Disk Space…: renders deleted data unrecoverable on drives.
In the Advanced Wipe Settings section, you'll find advanced settings for the wipe mode.
- Quick Shred & Erase (fastest): the fastest wiping mode (although some specialized software may still recover data).
- DoD Level Secure Scramble & Erase: a data erasure mode that makes data irrecoverable even with any recovery solution.
- Scramble File Names and Dates: mechanism to obscure file names, directories, and wipe dates.
- Allow Right-Click File Shredding: open Ace File Shredder by right-clicking on files or folders.
Utilizing Ace File Shredder for Data Deletion
Step 1: To delete a file, click on Shred Files…, a window will appear allowing selection of the file to delete, navigate to the folder containing the file, choose, then select Open to proceed.
Step 2: In this step, press Yes, Confirm Shred to confirm deletion.
After deletion, you will receive a notification as shown below.
Step 3: Similarly, to delete a folder, on the main screen, click on Shred Folders…, select the folder to delete, then click OK to proceed.
Step 4: In this step, click on Yes, Confirm Shred to confirm deletion.
Step 5: To erase all traces of previously deleted files, select Wipe Free Disk Space…, then choose the drive to wipe (in this case, drive C or drive D), and click Wipe Free Disk Space.
