While PNG image format often boasts higher quality, it can sometimes lead to large file sizes, posing challenges for photo editing on less powerful machines. In this article, Mytour shares a method to convert PNG images to a more common and lighter format – JPG, without compromising image quality.
1. Utilize the Paint tool
Instead of relying on professional photo editing software, the pre-installed Paint tool on Windows computers allows us to convert PNG images to JPG without significant loss in quality.
Step 1: Right-click on your PNG image file (1) => Open with (2) => Paint (3).
Step 2: Click on the Menu (1) => Save as (2) => JPEG picture (3).
Step 3: Choose the destination to save the file, name the file (1), select the file format as jpg (2), and click Save (3).
2. Use Photoshop software
Photoshop software is a powerful image editing tool, ensuring you can edit and convert PNG images to JPG without compromising quality.
Step 1: Open your PNG image with Photoshop. Then, click on the File (1) menu => Save As... (2).
Step 2: Name your image file (1), choose the image format as JPG (2), and click Save (3).
Step 3: Adjust the Quality (1) setting to Maximum (2) => Click OK (3).
3. Utilize Ezgif's online PNG to JPG conversion tool
Step 1: Visit the website https://ezgif.com/png-to-jpg
Next, click on Choose File to upload your image file to the website.
Step 2: Click to select the image file (1) => Open (2) to upload it to the website.
Next, click on Upload to complete the uploading process.
Step 3: Choose the image format as JPEG (1) => drag the image quality (JPG image quality factor) to the highest level (2) => Convert PNG! (3).
Step 4: Once the conversion process is complete, click on Save to download the converted image.
5. Convert PNG to JPG using XnConvert software
XnConvert is a free software equipped with professional and fast image processing tools. You can convert dozens of image files or an entire image folder to popular formats within seconds without compromising image quality.
Step 1: Download and install the software using the following link:

After opening the software, click on Add file to add PNG images for conversion to JPG.
Step 2: Select the image file you want to convert (1) => Open (2).
Step 3: In the software, switch to the Output tab (1) choose JPG format (2) in the Format section and click on Settings... (3).
Step 4: Drag the Quality slider to the right (Best) (1) to convert the image with the best quality. Then, press OK (2) to save the settings.
Step 5: Once the settings are configured, click on the Convert button to initiate the conversion process.
Step 6: Once you receive a notification as shown below, it means you have successfully converted the PNG image to JPG. Afterward, remember the red-marked address in the image and access it to open the converted image file.
By converting PNG files to JPG, we can save a significant amount of memory as PNG images typically have a file size 3-4 times larger than JPG images. Additionally, the JPG image format is widely compatible and can be viewed on any device.
