However, they have now unveiled the latest experimental build, Windows 10 Redstone 4 build 17040, which integrates more bug fixes than new features. Microsoft has also added a few more small features in Build 17040, including the ability to adjust SDR content brightness on HDR displays, support for text input with touch keyboards, improved gestures to add extra spacing between words/characters, and a new commitment gesture for handwriting boards.
Updating Windows 10 Redstone 4 Build 17040: Addressing Numerous Issues and Introducing Additional Minor Features
In addition, there are some issues listed by Microsoft in build 17040 in a blog post. According to Microsoft, caution is advised with certain games like Tencent, as they may cause blue screen errors on 64-bit computers. Additionally, some Cortana notifications may not display, and combining OneDrive Files on Demand with third-party antivirus programs could lead to errors.
Now, users can proceed to update Windows 10 to Build 17040 to experience new features and check for any lingering issues from the previous version.
Despite the release of Windows 10 Redstone 4 build 17040 addressing numerous issues and introducing a few small features, Microsoft emphasizes that Redstone 4 has not yet been officially released. Windows 10 Redstone 4 is expected to be officially launched around April next year. Microsoft has also announced the new trial version Windows Server Redstone 4 build 1803 for Insiders this week.
