Unravel the enigmatic mysteries of Wintermoor Tactics Club on Xbox One by exploring them yourself.
A cozy world reminiscent of home
The storyline of Wintermoor Tactics Club revolves around a young girl named Alicia. As one of the few black students at Wintermoor Academy and a bookworm, Alicia often feels isolated at her school. Her safest haven is the Tactics Club, where she feels at ease playing the role-playing game 'Curses & Catacombs' and chatting with supportive friends who share her interests.
Alicia's sanctuary is threatened when the school organizes a snowball tournament, where all clubs must compete and will be disbanded if they lose. Alicia and her friends try to bring their beloved game into the real world, envisioning snowball fights as C&C adventures.

The game's melodies help players feel comfortable, while the graphics evoke stories and blend indie film emotions with late 90s RPG experiences. Every aspect of the game is designed to make players feel like they're curled up in a peaceful place with a delicious hot cocoa and a good book.
Tactical gameplay for everyone
Although the developers love tactical games and are familiar with their challenges and complexities, they didn't want to create a game just for experienced players. Hence, Wintermoor Tactics Club was developed for everyone.
Firstly, randomness has been removed from the game. All the information you need to make decisions is always displayed: what actions enemies will take, the damage they'll inflict, etc. There's no need to remember strengths and weaknesses, perform complex calculations, or recall vast statistical data. The game lays all its cards on the table so you can plan your tactical moves effectively.
Secondly, gameplay and story intertwine. Those experienced in tactical games may receive rewards by conquering extremely challenging levels, while players interested in the story can earn valuable bonuses by conversing with various characters on the school grounds and completing side quests.
Lastly, players can choose their desired level of challenge. You can increase or decrease player and opponent HP through the menu. Combat enthusiasts can challenge the game's scoring system by aiming for the highest rank in each battle, while those less concerned about winning or losing can utilize the 'fail-free' combat mode to achieve non-negative outcomes.
A tale of integration
The developers stated that when considering the game's theme, they aimed to address how the Internet can divide people into like-minded groups and create an 'us versus them' mentality. Therefore, naturally, the game is set in the early 1980s.
Integration is not easy. It's daunting to try to welcome strangers into our comfort zones. Wintermoor delves into that struggle. In many conflicts, the bravest thing you can do is connect with others: try to understand their feelings and help them know where you're coming from. That's why the main character's strongest attribute in the game is empathy. Despite Alicia's shyness and mischief, she reached out to the defeated members of other clubs. She tried to connect by sharing her interests, writing them Curses & Catacombs adventures to help them deal with personal issues.
