The recently unveiled “selfie-taking panda” statue is capturing the attention of tourists on trips to China.
Explore China: Visit the Giant Panda Selfie Statue
The colossal panda sculpture named Selfie Panda, designed by artist Florentijn Hofman, was unveiled at Ngong Tian Oa Square in Doujiangyan City, Sichuan Province. This place has become an appealing destination for travelers to China.

Inspired by a true story of a lost panda in downtown Doujiangyan, which caused a sensation on Chinese social media in 2005, the giant panda statue depicts China's national treasure holding a selfie stick, lying on green grass, with one leg resting on a closed cage.

This Panda bear is nearly the size of a two-story house, measuring 26.5 meters in length, 11 meters in width, and 12 meters in height. The frame was constructed in a workshop in Shanghai. The statue was completed with the support of approximately 3 million stainless steel bars, painted white and black – the characteristic colors of pandas. The total weight is approximately 130 tons.

In addition, surrounding the newly erected statue are souvenir stalls and food vendors serving visitors on their trips to China. Take note of this Instagram-worthy check-in spot when you have the opportunity to travel to China.
