According to information on the official website of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Korea, the embassy will expand the exemption for financial proof and consider multiple-entry visas to South Korea. This regulation is effective from July 10, 2017.
Explore South Korea now, as the country has recently eased visa requirements for Vietnamese visitors.
Those exempted from financial proof include:
1. Employees (office sector) of the top 500 businesses in Vietnam or companies with Korean investments as per the designated list by the Korcham office.
2. Employees of state-owned enterprises, government officials.
3. Individuals holding a bank balance exceeding one billion VND in either a Vietnamese or Korean bank.
4. Individuals owning privileged credit cards or those with assets and income above the prescribed level. Those with an annual income exceeding 8,000 USD (must be evidenced through bank statements), owners of international payment credit cards in the preferred annual customer list (Gold or Platinum credit cards).
5. Individuals engaged in cultural arts, sports, professionals, and those with high expertise (e.g., doctors...). To check whether you fall into the recognized high expertise group, you need to verify with the Embassy.
6. Individuals who graduated from universities in Korea, including colleges.
7. Retired officers over 55 years old with a pension.
8. Journalists, television producers from media agencies.
9. Individuals with permanent residency, who have entered OECD countries.

Multiple-entry Visa Consideration
Furthermore, the Embassy provides detailed plans for expanding the scope of multiple-entry visa considerations.
Considered Individuals
1. Individuals who have entered Korea, excluding those who entered under visa exemption and those who have been denied entry by Korean customs, including individuals entering for medical tourism with sufficient medical records showing hospitalization fees paid exceeding 2,000 USD.
2. Government officials, employees of state-owned enterprises, employees working for airlines, shipping companies with flights, maritime routes to Korea.
3. Individuals with an annual income exceeding 8,000 USD (must provide evidence through bank statements), individuals owning credit cards, international payment cards in the preferred annual customer list (Gold or Platinum credit cards).
4. Individuals entering Korea for business transactions, commercial consultations with an invitation from the Korean government agency, individuals establishing a business for trading and developing energy and resources with Korea.
5. Individuals invited by government agencies, state agencies to participate in international seminars.
6. Business representatives, management team of stock trading companies (with more than one year of work experience).
7. Authors, journalists, directors, employees of press agencies (with more than one year of work experience).
8. High-level professionals (doctors, lawyers, accountants, professors) and individuals like renowned painters, athletes, artists... (verify with the Embassy).
9. Retired officers over 55 years old with a pension.
10. Individuals who graduated from universities in Korea, including colleges.
11. Individuals with a spouse, parents, including underage children holding valid multiple-entry visas.

Visa issuance details
Based on the purpose of entry, visas will be categorized (C31-C39), with a stay duration of 30 days, a validity period of 5 years, and a visa fee of 80 USD. However, the Embassy may also refuse to issue multiple-entry visas to individuals who meet the mentioned conditions but are suspected of staying illegally.
South Korea was previously stringent in issuing visas to Vietnamese citizens. However, in recent times, the visa policy has become more lenient. The relaxation of visa procedures for Vietnamese citizens will bring many advantages for both tourism and work purposes in Korea.
