Discover the distinctive charm of Mỏ Luông cave at Mai Châu Lodge
Leave behind the hustle and bustle of urban life; visitors to Mai Châu come not only to enjoy the fresh air but also to savor moments of true relaxation, letting their souls wander amidst the endless beauty of lush green mountains, with clouds drifting lazily over small ethnic villages.

Just 2km from Lác village, Mỏ Luông cave is the most visited spot in Mai Châu, thanks to its captivating beauty and convenient location. As part of the Pù Kha mountain range, Mỏ Luông cave captivates visitors with its untouched wilderness amidst the modern era.

According to legend, every Tet Nguyen Dan (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), the Thai people gather to catch fish in the deep streams of the region. During one fishing expedition, a woman from Bó village caught an egg three times. After discarding it each time, she decided to take the egg home to hatch it. To everyone's surprise, the egg hatched into a snake on the fourth attempt. With the snake's presence, the water level in the fields mysteriously rose. Perplexed, the villagers took the snake into the forest, and wherever they went, the water rose, creating opportunities for farming on fertile fields.
To express gratitude to the snake, the villagers brought it to the Mỏ Luông cave, where the snake transformed into a dragon. Every year on the 15th day of the lunar July, a school of fish emerges from the cave for the villagers to catch. The villagers believe that the fish are a gift from the dragon to repay their kindness.

Mỏ Luông Cave consists of four main chambers with a depth of about 500m. The first chamber is 60m long, 16m wide, and has a ceiling height of 20m. The chamber is arranged like a large living room, with clusters of stalactites on the ceiling resembling decorative chandeliers, paintings, and vibrant floral patterns.
The second chamber, about 10m higher than the first, gives visitors the feeling of stepping into a magical realm of stone. On both sides of the walls are stalactite formations resembling ancient deities and Buddhas. Above, there are bands of white, gold, green, and gray stalactites resembling shimmering clouds. Below, the stone floor extends like a silver-lined carpet.

Passing through the second chamber, visitors enter the third chamber, a large area of about 400m2 that is cooler than the others. Stalactites descend from the ceiling like enormous teeth, creating a tranquil atmosphere. The final chamber is spacious with a height of 25m, length of 15m, and width of 12m. It features numerous stalactites and unique rock formations. Descending to the cave's bottom, an underground stream flows day and night into the Mỏ Luông Lake in front of the mountain.
