1. Overview of Helsinki - the city of magnificent fortresses
Helsinki, the capital of Finland and also its largest city. Every year, it consistently ranks among the top most livable cities in the world. However, many European tourists feel that Helsinki resembles their own cities and may be dull for sightseeing. But not at all! This city knows how to captivate visitors with its streets facing the sea, diverse architecture, and characteristic Nordic cuisine. You can explore unique churches, UNESCO-recognized fortresses, traditional markets dating back to the 19th century, ... by bike or on foot as the city is quite compact.
At night, Helsinki is equally vibrant as other cities: popular bars host heavy metal parties, the biggest music festivals in Europe take place annually, ...

Discovering Sveaborg Fortress and Suomenlinna Archipelago
Suomenlinna Archipelago is an essential part of Helsinki tourism. Just a 20-minute ferry ride from the city center, you'll find Sveaborg - known as the 'Swedish Castle', built in the mid-18th century.
Sveaborg's original purpose was political: it served as a shield against Russian encroachment in the Baltic region. In the 1950s and 1960s, it underwent renovation and transformation for cultural and entertainment purposes. Today, Sveaborg stands as one of UNESCO's recognized world heritage sites.

Exploring Helsinki's Market Square
If you're a shopping enthusiast or want to immerse yourself in Helsinki's culture, don't miss out on Market Square (Kauppatori). This is the main square in central Helsinki and also one of the most famous open-air markets in Northern Europe. This vibrant market primarily sells Finland's specialty foods, fruits, and souvenirs. Especially noteworthy are the fishing boats lining the shoreline next to the market, selling freshly caught seafood directly - a classy backdrop for our check-ins!

Temppeliaukio Church: Helsinki's Rock Church
Temppeliaukio Church is located in the northern part of the Hietaniemi district in Helsinki, designed by Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen in the late 1960s. Its most distinctive feature is the underground interior built directly from ancient bedrock of the Helsinki peninsula.
Inside the church, natural light floods in through the glazed dome, bathing most of the space in sunlight throughout the day. It also serves as a quality concert hall - where perfect reverberating sounds are crafted from the stone surfaces within.
If you visit Temppeliaukio in the summer, be sure to stop by the café on site for a unique culinary experience!

Linnanmäki Amusement Park: Fun for All Ages
Located east of the Olympic Helsinki Stadium, Linnanmäki Amusement Park is the next must-visit spot for your group! It features a water tower, high-speed roller coasters, and a giant Ferris wheel. Along with the nearby Television Tower, Linnanmäki Park is a fantastic highlight of the Helsinki tourism scene.

Kiasma: Museum of Contemporary Art
Known as the home of architectural geniuses, it's ironic that the Museum of Contemporary Art (Kiasma) - considered a landmark of Finnish modern architecture - was designed by American architect Steven Holl. Nonetheless, this doesn't stop the museum from becoming a special destination for culture and art enthusiasts. Its exterior-to-interior design is consistently characterized by irregular twists, creating a unique exhibition space for contemporary artworks.

3. How to fly to Helsinki?
flight tickets to Helsinki
If this is your first time visiting Helsinki, consider booking your hotel in advance. The advantage of this is to minimize the risk of not finding/taking time to rent a room, being overcharged for rooms, especially during peak travel times. Booking in advance also helps you have an accurate 'milestone' to get from the airport to the city center. Some affordable hotels in Helsinki you should consider are: Forenom Hostel Vantaa Airport, CheapSleep Helsinki, Eurohostel, Omena Hotel Yrjonkatu,...
Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways,... are airlines that have routes from Vietnam to Helsinki. @espoospotter
