Accompanied by his travel companion Mika-Pekka Markkanen, Damond Beckford drove from Helsinki, Finland to Troms, Norway to witness the night sky and the Northern Lights.
Embarking on a 3,500km journey to behold the stars and the Northern Lights

They reached the islands of Senja and Lofoten before returning. The journey took 12 days covering over 3,500km. At night, they slept in a tent, but the tent was too thin against Norway's windy winter.
Later, they found an abandoned campsite and stayed there. With no hot water, they braved cold baths. Another night, they slept in a cave where ancient people once lived, with water dripping from the ceiling. Yet another night, they slept in the car...
Then the tent was swept away by the wind. Then the car keys fell and got stuck in the trunk... along with countless other challenges.
In return, they were rewarded with the sight of billions of stars and the Northern Lights as beautiful as a dream.
Sharing his experiences on BoredPanda, Damond Beckford didn't hold back his joy of immersing himself in the majestic nature, the pride of overcoming challenges and obstacles...
The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, is a fascinating natural phenomenon often observed in the skies of the polar regions.
This is an optical phenomenon, characterized by the colorful display of light in the night sky, created by the interaction of charged particles from solar winds with the upper atmosphere of the Earth.
The Northern Lights can appear in various colors, but pink and green are the most common.
