Ngô Thanh Vân, the inaugural beauty of Vietnamese showbiz, takes part in an international sailing race, contributing to charitable foundations.
After a 3-day oceanic journey to participate in the international sailing race, commencing on October 17th from Hong Kong and covering a distance of 656km to Nha Trang, Ngô Thanh Vân shares sincere reflections on her memorable journey:

“After honing skills and endurance with the gentle waves of Nha Trang alongside experts, Vân embarked on her actual journey by boarding the plane in Hong Kong and entering a challenging training process with 15 completely unfamiliar men on the boat. Vân trained with the team from morning till evening, resting only for a few hours at night. After 2 days, Vân felt exhausted, lacked appetite, and became silent, succumbing to the gradually approaching fever. People still thought of Vân as a strong, determined girl, and this sailing race was just a luxurious, gentle pleasure. But, in reality, this was a sea-crossing race that could affect lives. Vân was truly tense. Vân sank into sleep, reminding herself not to give up. The bus picked up the team at 7:15 the next morning, and the 16 people on the boat were divided into 4 teams, taking turns to steer the boat during the journey. Then, the whole team went to the bay to complete the departure procedures.

Stepping onto the boat, disregarding the prior training, seasickness began to torment Vân. To the point that sometimes, when it was her team's turn to steer the boat, Vân would still be sound asleep in the boat's cabin, a real disadvantage for her teammates. However, gradually, Vân became accustomed to the waves, the wind, and seasickness slowly ceased. By the time the boat docked, accustomed to the rough waves, Vân experienced 'land sickness' again. Three days of tumultuous waves, wind, the biting cold between the vast and dark sea, no one could save you but yourself. So, everyone had to strictly obey the captain's orders. The boat ran on wind power, not engine power, so they had to navigate according to the wind.

The challenges arising from the physical limitations of the female gender were one aspect, and the maritime journey also faced a storm in the Pacific Ocean. Three other boats gave up, one was sunk by the storm. Vân's boat, at times, tilted 45 degrees as if it were about to capsize, and the entire crew had to run to one side to maintain balance. Not to mention, the secondary mast came loose, leaving the boat with only the main mast in the roaring storm. The strong wind pushed the boat out of the planned route towards Nha Trang, the boat veered off course, and the entire team struggled to steer the boat back on track with only the main mast. In the end, overcoming all difficulties, Vân's boat started last among the 17 participating boats but finished third, six hours after the first boat. Seeing the motherland a few miles ahead, Vân was overjoyed, saying to the Nha Trang team, 'Your Nha Trang is beautiful!''
