Embarking on a cross-country cycling journey across Vietnam is a feat achieved by many, but not everyone knows how to pause and find temporary work to fund their adventures.
This is the cross-country journey of a male member nicknamed Duy Mập on the phuot.vn forum. This leg of the journey is a true adventure, focusing on living frugally and relying on hospitality. It's not merely a costly trip. Additionally, the character spends time working to earn extra funds for the journey.
Duy Mập shares: 'I only spend money on food during the 20-day journey, with a daily expense of 70,000 VND for food. I carry two and a half liters of water, replenishing it as needed. I sleep at locals' houses, or if unavailable, I sleep outdoors. Most places where I couldn't find accommodation were in large cities and areas without housing.
Departing from Saigon on the 27th of Tet, then heading straight from Hac Dịch – Bà Rịa. I chose the familiar coastal route because I used to travel by motorbike, and also because my aunt's house is in Bà Rịa, where I spend Tet. My belongings only consist of a few sets of clothes, a hammock, a blanket, a kilogram of dried alcohol, a chain to lock the bike, and to serve as a weapon when necessary.
