Skype is chat software developed by Microsoft, widely used globally with numerous advantages over other programs. Skype not only serves communication needs like chat and messaging but also acts as a tool for various tasks, including file sharing, video calls. While Skype's features are comprehensive, they may not always suit the majority of users.
During information exchange, we share URLs of various websites. When chatting through Skype, these links will be automatically converted to preview mode (URL Preview). However, for some users, this preview mode is inconvenient as the thumbnail images of the web page will automatically appear, affecting user privacy. Moreover, many users may not distinguish between safe links and potentially malicious links that increase the risk of virus transmission through Skype.
Mytour guides you on enabling or disabling the URL Preview feature on Skype through a few simple steps directly in Skype's options menu
How to Enable or Disable URL Preview on Skype for Desktop
Step 1: Open the Skype software, on the toolbar, choose Tools, click Options, or press the shortcut Ctrl+,
Step 2: In the options window, click on Instant Messages & SMS, select IM appearance
Step 3: Under Show link previews, you can tick or untick as you prefer. If ticked, the URL Preview feature will be activated, and vice versa.
Tick the appropriate status according to your preference, then click Save to save the status.
Enable or Disable URL Preview on Skype Preview (Windows Store App)
Step 1: Open the Skype Preview interface, click Setting
Step 2: In the Setting category, locate Messaging, with a checkmark on Web link previews. Adjust the option status as mentioned above to enable or disable the link preview feature (URL Preview)

Fortunately, we can customize this feature directly in the options interface without the need for registry editing or any third-party software. This highlights Skype as one of the best communication software today. If you have multiple Skype accounts to use simultaneously, you can also chat with multiple Skype accounts on the same computer for the most convenient switching.
