In Excel, when entering numbers longer than three digits, it won't automatically add decimal points. In this article, our software wizard will guide you on seamlessly incorporating decimal points into your numeric sequences in Excel.

1. Configuration Settings
By default, when using Excel, the system uses commas ',' to separate thousands. To enhance clarity and avoid confusion, we need to change the thousand separators from commas to dots '.'.
Step 1: Choose File and select Option to access Excel settings.

Step 2: When the Excel Option window opens, navigate to the Advanced tab and configure as follows:
- Uncheck the 'Use system separators' option
- Decimal separator: ',' (comma)
- Thousands separator: '.' (dot)
Then, press OK to save your changes.

Step 2: Then, choose the Number tab and select the Custom category. Here, you'll find the format #.##0; simply choose this format and press OK to add the dots.
Note: If the format #.##0 is not available, you can manually enter it in the Type section.

And here is our result after automatically adding decimal points to the number sequence:

Method 2: Adding Dots with Number
Step 1: Select the column (or the entire sheet) where you want to add dots to the number sequence and Right-click -> Format Cell…

Step 2: Then, select the Number tab and the Number category to configure Excel numbers as follows:
- Decimal places: 0
- Select the Use 1000 separator option
Here, Decimal places involves adding a 0 to the end of the number sequence. In this guide, as we are adding commas, set it to 0 to maintain the original appearance of the numbers. Use 1000 separator automatically inserts dots after thousands.

In this tutorial, the Software Wizard has guided you on the quickest and most precise method to add decimal points to number sequences in Excel. Wishing you success!
