1. Change Font Style in Skype
If you find yourself bored with Skype's default font, why not switch to a font you love? Skype users are allowed to easily change to any font available on their computer. However, changing font style in Skype applies only to the chat font in conversations; titles and menus remain unaffected.
Step 1: On the Skype interface, look towards the Tools Menu > click on Options.
Step 2: Next, click on Quick Messages & SMS and then select Message Styles. Here you'll find the option to change the font style; go ahead and click on it.
Step 3: Here, you can customize any font you want, from choosing the font type to the style and size. After making your selections, remember to save; immediately you'll see your font changed.

2. Change Avatar, Skype Profile Picture
Changing your Skype profile picture is another way to make Skype more interesting. Sometimes, refreshing your Skype with new avatars not only revitalizes your profile but also grabs the attention of those in your contact list.
Step 1: On the Skype interface, simply click on your avatar and then choose Change Picture.
Step 2: Here, you can choose to take a photo (if you have a webcam) or use a photo from your computer.
Step 3: Then, choose any image you like from your computer to use as your Avatar.
Finally, click on use this image to replace your old avatar.
Congratulations, you now have a brand new Avatar. Refresh yourself with this new Avatar.
3. Use Skype to create flashy status updates.
In reality, using Skype to create flashy status updates requires installing an external tool. Additionally, this tool works on the traditional Skype version. However, it is not compatible with the Windows 10 version of Skype downloaded from the Windows 10 Store.

4. How to write bold, italic, and underline text in Skype
This is a quite appealing feature that, in reality, few people know about. Emphasizing or removing a particular opinion by bolding or underlining it will become more understandable than ever.
- Writing bold text on Skype: To use Skype for bold text, just add an asterisk * before and after the text you want in bold, see the image below and follow along.
- Similarly, to use Skype for italic text, just add an underscore _ at the beginning and end of the text you want italicized.
- Lastly, for strikethrough text, use the syntax of adding a tilde ~ at the beginning and end of the text you want to strikethrough.
5. Block ads on Skype
Many individuals dislike using Skype because it often displays irrelevant ads within the software. To address this issue and completely block ads on Skype, an optimal solution is presented with the steps below.
Step 1: Firstly, open the Start Menu, then type and access Control Panel to search and navigate to this section.
Step 2: Within the Control Panel, further navigate to the Network and Internet section.
Step 3: Here, we select Internet Options.
Step 4: Within Internet Options, switch to the Security tab, select Restricted Sites, and click on Sites.
Here, simply Add the address apps.skype.com, and that's it. All ads when using Skype will be completely blocked.
