Adobe is integrating new technology into Photoshop to tag images with metadata. This is part of efforts to combat Deepfake and prevent the misuse of manipulated images.
Last year, with support from The New York Times and Twitter, Adobe initiated the Content Authenticity Initiative, a move aimed at reducing the circulation of altered images online. Adobe states that the technology will utilize metadata tags and encryption to help people verify the authenticity of images, videos, and other content. The technology is set to undergo its first trials soon.
