After installing Internet Download Manager (IDM), the default download speed of the software is set at a moderate level. However, you can still speed up IDM or decrease it to avoid impacting the Internet connection, especially for organizations or businesses with multiple users working online.
GUIDE TO SPEEDING UP DOWNLOADS WITH VIETNAMESE VERSION OF IDM
- If you haven't installed IDM yet, check out the installation guide here.
- After installing IDM on your computer -> switch the software language to Vietnamese by: Going to the View menu -> selecting Language -> then choosing Vietnamese to make the change. Alternatively, refer to the article Setting Vietnamese for IDM here.
And follow the steps below to boost IDM's download speed.
Step 1: In the Vietnamese IDM interface, it will look like the image below:
Step 2: Select the Download tab -> then choose the Options tab.
Step 3: A customization window appears -> you select the Connection tab
- Under Connection Type/Speed: Choose High Speed: Direct Connection (Ethernet/Cable/Wi-Fi/Mobile 4G/other.
- In the Maximum Connections section -> choose a maximum of 16 for ADSL networks with good speed, if using FTTH (fiber optic) or ADSL with large packages and good computer configuration, you can set it to 32. Setting too many connections can slow down the network and affect other tasks because IDM will try to use the entire network bandwidth for downloading, sometimes causing network hang-ups and file download interruptions.
- If you download a lot, with data reaching hundreds of gigabytes, it's best to deselect the Download limits option. But for those downloading moderately, around 30GB or less, it's fine to leave it at the default setting.
Step 4: Finally, click OK to complete the process of increasing IDM's download speed.
